If you yell at the car it will throw a cel. I can only think you want to delete the air injection because the air pump has failed and these are very difficult to find and expensive if you do find one. Various people have rebuilt the pumps with different results. The system is designed to get the cats up to temp as quickly as possible.

Perhaps for those of us with 1995 OBD-1 cars it wouldn’t be a problem. I can confirm that my OBD-1 993 doesn’t monitor SAI. I’m guessing 1995 355s would be the same.

Be careful with the components you are removing since they are integrated with the bypass valve and vacuum system.

Are you looking to disable the pump motor?

Are you trying to save a pound or two?

Wrong. 95 355 monitors SA solenoid valve and relay.

As for what the system does, the system is designed to reduce emissions during cold start or when the injection system is in enrichment mode. Excess air is injected into the exhaust to help combust the excess HC. It is controlled by monitoring the coolant temperature and is specifically deactivated if the coolant temperature is below 59*F, to avoid overheating and damaging the cats, or above 145*F where the injection system goes into closed loop mode. While the presents of excess air and HCs will aid in heating the cat more quickly that is not the primary purpose.

As stated, just speculation on my part.

I do find it interesting that Ferrari would choose to monitor SAI on OBD-1 cars. If what you’re saying is accurate, they are somewhat of an outlier.

They do very little monitoring with OBD1, When the signal is on, all they want to see is the current draw from the output driver. That is not exactly a function monitoring but a signal integrity monitoring. So if you just plug up or disconnect the air pipes, the computer will not know.

Do not disconnect the pipes without capping the connection(s) to the exhaust manifolds. But seriously, what's the point? The system shuts itself off once the engine get warm.
