Yesterday I took out my 355 for a spin. Immediately, the slow down light appeared while I was at a dead stop. The 1-4 cylinders were obviously not firing. Then the when out and the cylinders started to fire again. This went on back and forth during my trip around the block. I put the car back in the garage and came back about 3 hours later to see if the problem was still there. The car ran just fine with no issues. Here's my question, did the Ferrari gods just not want me to take the car out, or do I have a more pressing issue? I'm afraid to take the car out for a long joyride at this point.

lots of threads on this issue. If you feel like doing a little legwork you could check the most likely suspect- exhaust temp ecu. i keep these on the shelf because of the failure rate. having said that, I also do a full scan and check of any cars with slow down light issues first to make sure.

Since you got the 1/4 light I'm assuming you have the 2.7 (two mass air flow sensors is the give away).

    Okay.

    1) Swap the cat ecu's from side to side. 20-30 minute job as this is your first time. Then see if the problem jumps sides. (This only works for the 2.7 and not the Motronic 5.2 equipped cars, because the 5.2's only have one ecu and one slow down light)

    2) If the light stays on the same side swap the thermocouples, and see if it jumps to the 5/8 bank.

    3) If you are running test pipes you don't need the cat ecu's and can remove the damn things all together.

    4) Run a search of the archives as this has been covered many, many times.
