    I know theres a thread on this already.....is this a scam by friends of the owner??

    Ive been on ebay for a couple of days and it can be a con...beware.

    Most eBay auctions that go very high like this are just kids (or sometimes even adults) bidding on something that they have no intention or ability to buy. Check the high bidder's rating - it is usually zero or even negative. If negative there'll be feedback saying the bidder is a timewaster or whatever.

    Scams on ebay tend to take a different form - they purport to be selling something for a price that is too good to be true. It's been said before, but a useful rule to stick to when buying from ebay is that if it's too good to be true then it probably isn't true.
