i was driving my 355 Spider in Germany today(no speed limits on most parts of the "autobahn") and when i exceeded 250 km/h (i was driving top up, hey, it's freezing!) all of a sudden my windows opened a few centimeters , just like they do wen you electrically want to open te roof. Has anybody (of course not outside of Germany, hehe) ever had this? Is this some kind of sensor who thinks you want to open the roof? (may be because the wind is lifting the roof so a sensor feels this??)

The whole 400 km ride was one big rush by the way (especially the howling Tubi!!!), the car feels very stable also at high speeds way above 250 km/h, although not as stable as my previous (2002) Carrera 4 Cabrio, the brakes on the Porsche are simply from another world if you compare high speed braking to the 355, but hey, it's an experience, not a car!

After 5500 km in one year it still remains very special every single time.

Not had it happen on my spider so dont think it could be any sort of senser ,did they close ok with the switch ? Is it possible that you accidentaly court the roof switch as the windows are the first thing to move and will do so without the hand brake light on .

You are so lucky to have roads without speed limits !

On the left hand side of the header rail as you sit in the car, were the roof fits in the little hole when the roof closes. There is the little roller switch inside the location hole, that is the micro roller/witch responsable for the windows going down when the roof is doing a cycle. It just needs the spring catch bending/adjusting. Its only on one side, the location hole on the r/h side hasnt got one. Mine did it a few years back when i went over a certain speed the air got under the roof edge and caused the micro switch to activate the windows. Once you have looked at it you will see how its easy to adjust, it all makes sense;)

Yes wally, we are lucky here without the speed limits, as a native Dutchman i had to get used to overhaul police cars with speeds in excess of 250 km/h but nowadays you don't even pay attention anymore.

Chaa, thnx i figured it had to be something like this, thnx very much.

IF the roof micro switch is turning on you would probably also be hearing some wind noise from the roof as I did, if you loosen the allen screws on both sides of the latching mechanisim and adjust them tighter than retighten the screws, the roof will be rock solid. After I did mine I get absolutly NO wind noise even above 150mph, trust me I know ;).
