is anybody disappointed by the rather large, un-sporty appearing steering wheel on the 355. I love the interior otherwise but I think the wheel kind of mucks up the raciness of the car.

anybody else feel the same way?

    pictures of alternatives?

I agree, I started a similar thread a while ago and got little response. I wish they had put a three spoke like the 360. I guess there is something to be said for evolution.

I agree and would like to change it not necessarily to anything really sporty but the last posts on this subject concluded that the air bag and horn sensor are an issue when trying to replace the stock wheel.

I replaced mine just recently. Ok, I really should post a picture but in the meantime, I gotta tell you, its awesome. I put on a Momo Millenium wheel. I bought a hub adapter from an independent shop - got the last one from a run of 20 but I understand there are other places to get these. You want the so-called Challenge hub adapter as Challenge cars didn't have an airbag.

No issue on the horn - it just hooked right up and worked fine.

Another side benefit - you can add a spacer and move the wheel closer. I just got my spacer and will install it this weekend, then take pics.

With the stock wheel, the wheel was big, hit my knees, felt mushy, and I didn't like the distance (nor look). The Momo resolves all of that (with the spacer allowing me to bring it closer). It is so much better, I can't imagine not driving with it now. It makes the car look and FEEL much sportier.

There are situations an airbag won't help anyway - it only helps in a head on collision. My feeling is that the seat belts should hold you in just fine.

I have been asking about the correct tool for removing the standard air bag wheel, for the last 18 months. The closest i have come to the correct tool was the Torx security keys (with hole in the centure), but they dont fit even though i was advised to use them. So if any one knows what tool to use i am still waiting:) Though i wont hold my breath:)
No point in looking at after market wheels if ya cant get the old one of:(

    chaa,
It is exactly what you said - the Torx security keys. I tried to find the right "bit" (you can buy the bits separately) but they didn't have the exact right one at the store I went to (AutoZone) so I ended up buying the wrench set. Its like an Allen wrench set and has both the ones with the holes and the ones without the holes. I think the size is 30. Best thing to do is drive your car there and try them out. The place I went to was super nice and just let me do that. Call around though - Kragen/Checkers/Schucks did not carry that. Maybe Pep Boys well. Personally I like AutoZone now - they seem to have more unusual tools than either of those places.

Anyway, I included my pictures so you guys can see my set up. Unfortunately the flash kind of distorts the pictures. I'll try to take some in daylight. It really does look quite a bit better than the picture shows.
