Okay, so it's time to begin Stage II, putting the ram tubes on the throttle bodies and getting rid of those bulky airboxes and intake hoses along with the MAF sensors. I drove down to Hilborn Fuel Injection this morning, as they seem to be the only ones who make this size-1 13/16"-45mm-tube. As it turns out, Hilborn is a great group of people. The sales & tech guy, Ernie Peck, is an enthusiast, and had some stacks custom made at 10" with a flange on the bottom so I can use the stock 355 clamps. Nice stainless steel. He introduced me to their technical director, Don Enriquez (you old guys may know that name-he's in the NHRA hall of Fame). If you're considering a throttle body change, talk to Ernie. They have some new products and products in development that will blow your mind, and he'll work with you. My next step is to work with IDA performance on the east coast. He's going to wire up a converter box (SMT-6) to change the signal from the map to talk to the brain like it's a maf. I'll follow up when that's begun.

Do you think Hillborn can do the custom airboxes for a 2 tb setup like the 360's?

HKS makes a MAF 'omitter' :

Online Catalog > Fuel Management > VPC (Vein Pressure Converter) >

    VPC (Vein Pressure Converter) (more)
The HKS VPC is a fuel management device that is designed to physically and electronically replace the OEM air metering devices for improved air flow and precise fuel delivery control. OEM air metering devices, such as Air Flow Meters (Flapper/Plunger types) and Air Mass Sensors (Hot wire / Karmen Vortex types) measure the amount of air flowing into the intake manifold in order to properly control fuel enrichment levels. Aside from offering no adjustment or reprogramming options to take advantage of dramatically higher amounts of airflow or larger fuel injectors, the OEM air meter also represents a significant restriction to the intake system. To overcome this restriction, the VPC physically removes the OEM air meter to dramatically improve airflow capacity and converts the system to what is referred to as a speed density system.

You betcha! It'll be stooge time soon when I have all the parts accumulated. Dan wants us to do it at his shop, which sounds good to me. Big fridge, couches and chairs.

    I'm there today! Thanks, Goth!

Thanks OZ......I'm wondering what the difference is going to be between HKS and IDA setups...hopefully one of these will be an easy install? Either way I am excited to see Bruce persueing this at full speed....348 and 355 guys wanting increased performance will hopefully see improved results by this mod.

Thanks, guys. I'll look into these right away. Meanwhile, I couldn't resist the temptation to mock it up. Here are some photos. It should look a lot better when the wiring is cleaned up. I'm deciding whether to polish or paint the stainless ram tubes. They's stick out about 3". I may build a scoop over them pointing backwards. I'm leaning toward plexi for that. Tuning note: After lengthy scientific discussions and consultations with aerodynamicists and calculations regarding track design, gear selection, torque curves, air speed and mass, heimholz effect, lies and war stories, alternative ratios and massive amounts of beer it was decided that the length of the ram tubes looked really good like this.

What color are you going to paint the wood??....lol
Say it was mostly the beer that determined the height...very very scientific..lol.
I'd like to see how this length looks with the hood closed....I like the air cleaners....atleast they will keep out large insects, rodents, and leaves.

I'll have you know that wood is the finest Italian Olive tree wood CNC machined to exacting Ferrari tolerances custom by the local dealer for only $723.95! Unfortunately, its' use will not be necessary with the stacks on-it was clearance for the air boxes.
    They'll stick out about 3".
Some people prefer 1 micron filters. I'm more of a 1mm kind of guy.

3" projection will look awesome....either polished or matte black....can't wait to see the plexi cover.

I had a case of aesthetism once, but I got rid of it with some penecillin and blue ointment.
Yes, I've been told I've got a lot of class-trouble is, it's all low. :)
