I am about to pickup a 355 that needs some work to get it rolling.

    1. Anyone know what tool is needed to remove the screw that holds ignition switch to the steering column?

    2. Need to know the size of the head of the nut that screws onto the steering tie rod that bolts into the aluminum hub carrier....is it a 22mm?? and because it is recessed into the aluminum carrier does it require a thin wall socket or will a regular thickness socket fit??

    3. Socket size for the big nut that holds the steering wheel to splined shaft?

    Thanks in advance.

    1) some switched are simple hexnut. some are riveted in and need to be drilled then replaced by a bolt and nut. Some are allen head with captured nut on the other end

    2) ???? steering tie rod that bolts into the aluminum hub carrier.... you mean the tie rod ends to adjust the toe? simple open end wrench like 18mm?

    3) not a socket but a 4 prong internal castle nut remover. You can just make one in the shop. Do a search on 348 flywheel removal tools and that's the internal of the tool you need just a much smaller size. Similar to the 308 trasnfer gear removal tool but smaller. If you don't want to make it Baum tool in florida sells them.

Sorry if I wasn't clear on questions 2 & 3.....if you could help I would appreciate it.

    2. The rod itself that is tapered that goes down into the aluminum hub carrier...the end is threaded to secure it to the hub housing.....the aluminum is machine so the nut goes up into it and appears to need a thin walled socket??????

    Is the nut a 19mm or 22mm???

Will a regular socket fit or do I need a thin wall?

    3. I am talking about the steering column where the steering wheel is at...the big nut that holds the wheel in place. Is this a 22,23, or 24mm nut??

Thanks for your response.....got ya on the break off bolt used to secure the ignition switch.
