Not sure if this is known, but Jaguar uses the same seat potentiometer as the 355 it just has a different connector. all you need to do is take the gear boxes apart and switch the potentiometer from the broken ferrari part to the jag part. The connector follows the variable resistor. this is if you don't want to go the glue route... that ball and socket (clutch) that you glue is designed to slip if something malfunctions in the gear box, its so you don't over turn the variable resistor and break things. jag part is half the cost of the ferrari part. I'm looking in to finding replacement parts for the seat pots, found the potentiometer, the plastic gears etc. can be reproduced by different companies. which would be a fraction of the cost of new.
Last time I looked at doing this I found the resistances for the jag part were way different to the original ones, and the seats would not re-learn and move by the same amount. What is the part number for the jaguar part you used?
Interesting about the resistance. I wonder if they make different versions that look the same but have different resistance. I'm pretty sure Ricambi offers the Jaguar part also. Anything Daniel sells you is going to work!
Yes, that's why I'm interested in the part number. And yes, if Daniel sells Jag ones, they must work! It was a while ago when I tried and the difference was significant. I'll dig out the paperwork for cross reference if the OP can post the part number..
I'll post the jag part number. but I didn't use the jag potentiometer. I removed the one from the ferrari part and installed it in the jag gear box and then installed in the car. the connectors were different that's why i did what I did.... the connector leads are soldered to the pot. the potentiometers are easy to source its getting that ridiculous gear/clutch thing made is the hard part. guess i could post pictures.
