After many upgrades and changes took my 355 out for a drive. Seems like there is a slight grinding noise coming from the transmission or the drive coupling to the wheels. Does anyone else have this and what is it? It seems like it is louder when turning at least 90 degrees and in first gear. The cv joint boots look good but have never taken them apart. Does not seem to do it as bad if take off in second gear. Is quite noticable at idle in first and only during slight acceleration.

This is tough to diagnose without hearing/seeing it. Probably a CV but may also could be anything from diff to gearbox, wheel bearings or even motor mounts. Sorry, I know that's not much help. Probably need a pro to look at it.

Can you list the recent upgrades? It might lead us to a simple issue, loose wheel or something rubbing are always possible after recent work. My fight instructor used to say " if you pick your nose and the engine quits, put the booger back in":) Always suspect the last things done!

Probably not a CV joint. More likely a bearing.

Probably a wheel bearing. The noise will be just a little different turning right than left. You'll do one every few years, depending on how much you drive.

All upgrades had nothing to do with drive train. Capristo, gold supreme kit, new thermostat, euro park lights, new o2 mini cats. I talked to a friend of mine who had a front wheel drive and I remember a similar noise when his cv joints were gone, but in his case the boots were not even there anymore by the time I heard his noise. He did say at the beginning the noise was quite a bit more quiet. I think I will have to check them first. Has anyone had there cv joints making a similar noise like grinding and then fixed them and the noise was gone?

Do we have any cross ref for wheel bearings or do I get from ricambi? And thanks probably what it is since the boots looked good when I did the major about 2 months ago. Never bothered to take them off and look.

Take a close look at the axles and heat shields. It's possible that you just have something scraping. The bearing could be in the hub or possibly in the gearbox.

That was my next question which bearing do you think is most likely?

From ricambi there is a bearing 125300 but can't find bearing by wheel?

My money's on the right rear. Which side gets the most tire wear? That's probably the side, but just a guess.
When you turn, which way gives you the most growl? Is either or any tire pointing funny?

All good points Bruce I won't be back in Cali for a about a month will check out everything then. It seemed like it was the same both directions and I just changed tires and or course did not look. It seems like not too big of a job to pull axels I will probably just do this when I get back or maybe try spinning the tires and see if I can feel anything. Thanks again. If possible could you have a quick look at ricambi and see if you can find bearing number at wheel side. Maybe I am just blind. Thanks again all will get back after a few checks.

This is a long shot but have you changed the dif "transaxle" oil lately. You could be experiencing clutch chatter. If the oil does not have the proper additives you will experience an uncomfortable noise when turning either direction.

Found grinding noise was main transmission shaft first gear has some small shavings coming off gear. Looks like a bearing on passengers side of main shaft is allowing some movement. Pulling transmission now. Thanks for all the input from everyone.
