Is anyone running the apRacing triple disc clutch(5.5"-140mm) and lightweight flywheel? I've got one for a 355 and need to know what to use on the clutch master cylinder and what T/O bearing to use. Thanks
HA HA...I used to be normal until I got an F car. Anywho, this is what me is talking about... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No sane person would use it on the street(very very grabby and very little rotating mass to store energy)...but for track days it will shine big time. I was thinking that I could redesign the clutch discs and put the organic liner on them so it would have some slip...couple that with a tilton pressure valve and it would then be more daily driver friendly. Throttle response and quick reving would be so dramatic on the 355 it would be like driving a whole different car. If I'm not mistaken this setup was a Michelotto design for the ultra rare 355GT competition car built for european racing...and judging from the lack of response to this thread no one on this site has one. Mine is half the weight of this one being tested so it will rev even quicker..lol [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZUxiLykyAM[/ame]
Sorry about that....the real purpose of this thread was to find out what T/O bearing and master cylinder to use so I can get this thing up and running..... Then I can tease...lol
Now that is blatant TEASING!!!!!!!! What is it? The proverbial "carrot on a stick" to get the donkey to keep going forward?
Naw... just some old 'stuff' I found in the back corner of the shop, nothing to see here, carry on. They need a set of "Real" cams in the Challenge car. Mix some Indy profile cams with that light flywheel and then the hair stands up!!! I caught the new Gog stacking rusty brake rotors on a Carbon Wing that was laying on the floor in the machine room... I really do have to get the coffin packed one of these days. I had to burn the storage oil out of the cylinders last evening doing Nascar Victory Lane loopers in the middle of the street with the IMSA car last evening. Nothing like the smell of hot gumball tires brought up to melting point (mixed with budding Pot!) on a Spring evening. I should have had Gog video that and send it to you. The Hula Doll's skirt (OEM Ferrari mind you) near came up over her head on one of the kick outs.... I figured that would be too much for an old guy to watch.
For anyone that's interested, when I had a 355 Challenge I had Caraboo Engineering manufacture a light-weight aluminum flywheel and Tilton 3-disc clutch system but I never installed it before I sold the car. Is there's any interest, I'll sell it cheap. I hope Rob doesn't catch me because I know this should really be in FerrariAds.
Here are some photos of the clutch/flywheel system. It's some beautiful engineering for sure. It's never been installed. I'm willing to sell for a bargain if someone's interested. Carobu Engineering (California) built this for me when I had a 355 Challenge car. It cost me $7,500. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
