It's a generic "kit" of cobbled together pieces that has NOTHING to do with a Ferrari. Unless you like watching smoke roar from the engine bay and money float out fo your wallet at a rapid pace...avoid it.

If you'd like to turbo a 355 take it to someone who has actually boosted Ferraris successfully and have a system put together. There's more than one of us around who have done this.

The valve / valve guide / cylinder head design on the 355 is fragile and tempermental enough just keeping up with the demands of normal aspiration. I doubt it could handle even the best-designed turbo installation.

MAJOR alterations would have to be performed to several of the stock parts --- including the very real possibility of designing and fabricating new heads from scratch (not simply modifying the OEM units)......my 2-cents.

Do a search the f355 engine can handle big loads without mods and has proven to be pretty strong.

It's a junk kit with junk components that are not even vehicle specific.

It would take thousands of dollars in customization to get this kit to even work and then it would be fail shortly afterwards.

There's nothing wrong with turbocharging a 355, just do it properly.

let me in on what you are getting if you buy that. A kit that doesn't fit, you get that kit for 1.1grand right?

Let me give you the picture of the turbo after maybe 3 to 4 dyno pulls for tuning.

Even if by some miracle the turbo holds up, have a good look at the manifold. Complain about stock 355 headers cracking? That happened around 400miles of driving.

You get what you pay for. And which imbecile decides on including an air to air intercooler for turbo kit for a mid engined car?

Lastly you spent at least 50k getting that 355. Why not another at least 10k for the turbo kit?

Simple fact not just opinion an actual fact, only someone clinically retarded would put that in a 355. Don't even think about it. Get like a Ferrari coffee mug or something, even that would be less useless

Want to turbo the 355? No problem, go with twin t28 twin scrolls with properly designed equal length twin scroll manifold. If you can secure vtg turbos even better. Get a decent blow off valve set, and since the 355 is a mid engined car, I really recommend a liquid to air intercooler (pwr makes an excellent unit), braided stainless steel lines, some redone vacuum lines, and proper aluminum or titanium piping. Updated exhaust and intake all the basic jazz. Thoroughly responsive system, and if properly trimmed would improve the stock powerband in all the right places.

Here are some respected turbo companies, that you should consider:
    Garrett
    Borg Warner
    Mitsubishi
    Turbonetics

There are some offshoot companies that make sort of more better variants of the initial product
HKS(Garret turbos only just a bit better)
    Greddy(Improved Mitsubishi turbos)

The cheapest Turbonetics T3/T4 turbo(That is the turbocharger itself) is $933
Cheapest garrett(journal bearing not ball bearing) $669

So you tell me. Still want the e-gay kit?

Some of you guys might remember there was a 1996 'Aussie' 355 Spider that had a Nizpro custom twin turbo kit installed on it.

The first tune made 450KW and 1730Nm of torque at the rear wheels back in late 2004. The rest of the car was completely stock and it ran 11.3 sec 1/4 mile times.

The power was bumped to 550KW at the wheels and it ran 10.9's all day. The engine was still completely stock.

The kit was just removed from the car to return it to standard so it could be sold more easily.

The car sold straight away and this twin turbo kit is now available for sale by a friend of mine here in Australia.

The kit is complete and ready to bolt onto the 2.7 or a few small changes and it can be made to fit the 5.2 Motronic.

Some pics of the car, the first dyno run, some parts and the engine bay with the TT kit installed.

If anyone is interested in this kit, please contact me via PM and I will pass on all the details.

could be done but this particular kit is a laugh.

most important is that the fuel injectors on the M5.2 are already at maximum flow at max power so with the current injectors you can not get more power out of the engine (not significantly)

regarding some comments on the air/air intercoolers on mid engine cars. what about the 288GTO and F40! they got one! and on a 355 you could place them infront of the radiators! or behind the rear wheels!
I don't see any problems on the standard heads or intake manifolds either, they can handle the boost.

but again, main restriction are the injectors. change them for higher flowing ones and get your fuel maps adapted accordingly. not a big deal at the proper tuner.

Can you please explain the oiling system? Is it a scavenge system? Is there a pump included?

I agree with Craig sir...posts like this terrified me when I first bought it. I drove around with white knuckles expecting the think the car was going to explode any second....

Nope, Especially not one of those "kits" from ebay.

Looks generic to me and you would have to figure out how to make it work.

Then the Tuning who's going to do that for you? no other way than to dyno tune it and screw that cost.

Id buy something else with a turbo if I really wanted a turbo.

It should be noted that this thread about an eBay turbo kit was started in 2010 - only Pap's post about the custom 355-specific kit being available in Australia is current for 2015.

Thanks mate. This custom 355 turbo kit is still for sale if anyone is interested.

If I owned a 355 I would have bought it already.

Well, yes and no. The parts can definitely be used and some of the pipe work.

Would have to make certain mods to the exhaust, certain brackets etc. Just fabrication stuff at the end of the day. Anything can be done, will just take time.

Oh, the ECU/tune side of things also.

If it were a 355 it would bolt straight on and be ready to run in a day I was told.

The kit was built by Nizpro Australia and they charged him $50K to build it from scratch.

That was around 10 years ago now. The engine was completely stock and this turbo setup never gave the owner any trouble.

A different friend completely rebuilt the engine in his 355 here in Australia and he paid $35K. That was around 5 years ago.
