Gents, are 355 undertrays manufactured out of BLACK material or do they have to be coated to be BLACK?

If your undertray bits are plastic, then they’re a black plastic. If your undertray pieces are fiberglass, like on one of my 355’s (very early production model) then it is a black gel coat, which is a bit difficult to mimic exactly.

The reason I asked about undertray material and color is my undertray (rear air extractor #64840900) developed stress cracks so - I ordered a new one from FerrParts and gave the cracked one away. The new undertray arrived in great shape - except - it's not black. It's hippopotamus gray and made out of very hard, shiny and slick plastic. It came in authentic looking packaging with an authentic looking label. It's stamped with the same supplier stamp (Ranger Plastics) as my old original undertray. What gives and where do I go from here? All thoughts appreciated.

Happened to take a closeup pic of the Ranger Plast logo on my undertray....some of my trays are plastic, some are plastic coated fiberglass. '98 model year, Nov 97 build date.

Looks about right, just aged a bit. Mine's fiberglass and I wish it wasn't.

If you want to blacken it up, just use some trim detailer.

Gents, Thanks for your insights. Didn't think of trim detailer. Will try it out. Thanks.
