Took the 355 out for a test run Sunday. Roads clean from the recent rain. Bit cool and windy!

Car ran like crap out of the box! Major stumble/ lack of power below 3k. Felt like an out of tune carb car cold! Almost felt like a couple of plug wires were crossed! Over 3k better but down on power.
Ran it up 95 for about 10 miles. Turned around and accelerated onto highway, couple of shifts at 6k. “Slow Down” light came on for about a minute. ECU closed down the overheating bank, way down on power. Stopped and let the car cool. Drove slowly home.
The problem has been getting progressively worse. At the PPI the car it ran great. Excellent power, no CEL or Slow Down lights. Received the car a few weeks later. Short drive in January, ran fine. 2nd short drive in January, CEL light came on. Pulled codes and found Bank 1 cat plugged. No obvious sign of overheating, appeared the ceramic worked itself loose. An old problem. A cat does not plug like this in a week. The wear type indicates a long process! Replaced Bank 1 cat.
Problem I am now facing is Bank 2. Noted the cat running too hot. Bank 1 appears fine. Car has been running progressively worse as noted above. After the drive pulled OBDII codes. Only code is the Ferrari specific P1454 code. Cannot get the code list for a 355 but can for a 360(Go figure!). Assuming no code change this makes sense. The code indicates “Bank 2 Cat Protection Active”, hence the slow down light and lack of power. Ferrari manual recommends for this code: Check wiring injector. Check wiring ignition cod(?no clue). Check all injector functionality. Check engine base CO HC.
A friend with a Sun 5 gas analyzer is coming to my home this week to test as the manual suggested. I have to assume I pull the forward O2 sensor to test gas concentrations prior to the cat. Question. If I pull the O2 sensor prior to the cat will the readings be valid? The ECU will not be receiving feedback from that sensor. Is that the correct point to sample?
Plan. Call John Tirell at IFS and get the car to him to diagnose on his SD2 machine.

Oh no John, that's a shame. You have such a beautiful 355! I really don't have anything of value to offer, but good luck. Today I will be out in the garage working on mine; fixing a few minor details.

Eric, thank you. Will I get an accurate reading at that port? My understanding is this is part of the Air Injection System.

The work shop manual designates explicitly this point for gas sampling. When the air pump is not running, exhaust gas can be measured from this point, external air is isolated by the non-return valve. Of course, do not try any measurement when the air pump is running.

Eric, Thank you! I should have asked before I put the 355 on the lift and took it apart to better access the O2 sensors!
