I posted a few weeks back about an Airbag light on my '95 F355. FoA is saying it needs a new ECU which has been upgraded and the original type is no longer available. Any thoughts? Should I try to track down a used ECU? But I assume most "used" parts come from wrecked cars...potential airbag ECU problems from wrecked cars? Looking for guidance...Thanks!

I would be very surprised if you found anyone with anykind of reputation or had built a business they cared to keep that will be in any way involved with the installation of a used airbag ECU. It goes against every industry guideline and anyone involved would be crucified in court.

Thanks...I was just surprised at the cost. (approx. $3400) and of course I want the car to be right...since I would most likely be intimately involved with the airbag if it ever goes off. They just made it clear that F was only providing the "new" ECU.

Superseeded part numbers are "clues" to an improved design criteria, usually.....or they found a cheaper vendor...

I have seen the upgrade myself.

The harness adapter is needed for the upgrade hence the added cost.
