hey guys, I've been thinking about picking up a 355 and was just wondering if anyone could tell me (approximately) how much the following upgrades might cost: 1) Challenge Grill, 2) Scuderia Shields, 3) Tubi or Capristo Exhaust systems/upgrades.

I'm just trying to figure out the "real" cost of the car I'm looking for.

Buy one with them on the car if this is what you want.

    Challenge grill : $1000
    Shields : $50 - $2500
    Tubi : $ 3000

As LJ says, although nice shields are available for about $250 (not original btw) and a tubi is not really a necessity... there are other cheaper options out there that won't be as annoying at low RPM. I have one on my 355 and it is very boomy at low rpm (<3500). Sounds awesome up high though.

Try NAPerformance and ferraripartsexchange for alternatives in the less than 2K range. They are both sponsors...

Your best bet is to buy a 355 with these options if you can. This is because the market does not give these options as much value as it will cost you to add.

As for the Tubi, it is personal preference. I prefer Tubi and enjoy the resonance at low rpm. When you are sitting idle on the 355 with Tubi, to me, it really is something special... as lusso64 says "boomy". This is a plus or minus depending on how you look at it. I know some people swear by Tubi (me) and others will make a big investment in Tubi ($3-5k) and later change it out because it is just too loud.

I guess it depends on how you are going to use the car. I use mine as much as possible, and unfortunately, that sometimes includes sitting on the 101 at 8am doing 7 mph. Boomy at this point is bad.

On Saturdays at 2am, boomy is good when zooming up the 2 to Mt Wilson....

Horses for courses.... but as rafo says, if you can buy the car with these items installed, you won't get a better deal....

    1. I don't know where you get an original Challenge grill for $1,000 but if you could let me know because that's below wholesale. I sell them for $1,399 and Ferrari dealers have them listed at $1,4xx

    2. It all depends on original ones are $2,500 whereas you can get good fakes for a couple hundred.

    3. Tubi and Capristo exhausts will run you around $3,000 however NAPerformance is putting out an exhaust for the F355 and 360 soon that will cost less then $2,500, I will be keeping everyone updated on the forums.

    Forza,
    Kevin
