I did have a pic somewhere. Cant seem to find it now. But I am sure it is still stocko 355 engine cover. You can see the Testarossa donk through the slats in the engine cover which is pretty cool. :):)

why has it got 50hp more? it looks like a testarossa engine. 380hp.

you're right about the bottom end, though.

but what about the extra weight? (not that it would be enough to lose the grunt, but it would have to affect handling)

looks like the slats are bent upwards to accomodate extra height.

Sorry guys but i think this is pointless, why do the work to fit a flat 12 in? It is different, not necessarily better. When i modify a car i want it to be better not just different. JMHO

What makes it look like a testarossa engine?

My 512 TR engine seems to look just like the engine in the picture. The 512 TR engine has 421 horsepower.

    it might well be!

not familiar enough with the subtle changes btwn both to really say.

that would sure make a difference...but still...the weight and centre of gravity?

would make a great cruiser i guess.

Good point on the centre of gravity.

The F355 has the transmission and clutch BEHIND the engine whereas with the TR, they are underneath.

really! I do not know much about V12s, but I figured it would have significantly more HP than a V8

You are correct, that is a 512 TR engine in the 355 and they make 421 hp or so.
The intake runners are different than a "plain" TR. The fuel injection is electronic port injection on the 512 instead of the old Bosch CIS in the TR.
The CG is higher because the transmission in a TR is under the left bank of cylinders (more or less).
Not as good in the corners but a blast in a straight line.

I have read and have heard that the TR engine is a flat 12 running a V12 crank. Meaning it does not run a "flat" crank (180 degree) like a true Boxer engine (Porsche, Volkswagen, Subaru).
The throws are multiple at 90 degrees.
    In essence, it's a 180 degree (opposed) V12
