compared to the outrageous appearance, and towering torque of the viper, the 355 appears in timeless lovely lines, and in euro specs, its 3,000 to red line note arguably makes it the best small ferrari yet.

The 355 is a great car overall. For the money , it is a steal. The 360 is a great car but in a much more sophisticated way. The glass engine cover was a nice touch and the seats are comfortable for a long run. The engine sound is nice but I like the 355 sound the best. The 360 is a different styling approach for ferrari and all the new cars are styled with a much more contemporary feel. The days of classic looks are over. I don't think the new cars have the old Ferrari charm or look. Look at the Enzo vs the F40. What a change in styling. Now when you see a TR or even a 355 the styling looks like a different manufacturer. The cars look like a classic. Not just a few years older but a lot older. Try them all and enjoy the differences and what makes each special. I wish I could had a garage for about 10 cars but I don't and must switch them in and out.

Seems like last month you couldnt have seen any difference between our daughters. It is a shorter time span than the blink of an eye, cherish it. Now she tells me what to do all day long!!!

There have been many excellent descriptions given here as to the difference between the 355 and the 360. One cant base an opinion of the 355 without driving the TS as well as the TB and the F1 vs 6 speed. The spider is a wonderful car but has a bit too much scuttle shake (never guess I raced English cars for years) for my taste. The TB appeals to some because of its styling and "tightness" and the TS gives the open air with increased stiffness over the spider. I am on record that I feel the 355 is still the best "all around" Ferrari built to date. Each model (360 and 355) has their own bugs but once sorted out they are truely a daily drivers.

360 = Refined, comfortable, fast, smooth, traction control

355 = Small, light, nimble, fast, throw it around in corners

For each model there are merits to suit every owner. There is also a huge difference car to car regarding performance, handling, sound..... Its all how they were setup at the last service. Both the 355 and the 360 are incredibly adjustable, tuneable cars!

    Mountain Man,

There are many valuable comments here, but it comes down to one thing-how "you" feel about the car. If you are not passionate about a 355 and if you don't have the overall feel for it, the car is not for you.

You cannot compare the 355 to an M3. You have to evaluate the 355 on its own merits despite its age. It's a timeless classic and you have to have that love and feel for it.

You are very fortunate to have from what I understand one of the most respected Ferrari mechanics, Dave Helms, in your area. I am most fortunate to have the only other one, Rifledriver, in my neighborhood without whose honesty and input I could not have made the very informed purchase decision I did.

Dave has offered his valuable insight. Trust in it.

Evaluate what everyone says and make your own decision. If a 360 is realistically out of your price range, and if the 355 does not excite you, then stay away from Ferrari.

This thread has been an education as well as entertaining. I am "in the market" for a 355 myself (having a hard time letting go of my 837 hp Z06 and '69 Camaro to get it though). A couple of years ago I almost bought a 348 but decided to wait until I could afford a 355. The exhaust note in the first car and the yellow car in the 355 tribute video convinced me.....a 355 is what I want....no....need!!! LOL So far as the dated interior, I plan on purchasing the CF interior kit from Valence that covers the instruments, radio bezel, and center console. This kit seems to really spice up the interior alot, IMO.

the F355 is much more beautiful than F360 or F430. the F355 has better shape regardless of the interior or the power of the motor.

i have a 2000 LS1 camaro that will soon have a 402 LS2 stroker motor that might put down 550rwhp and also i will get a Ferrari F355 GTS i think it will be a black one 1999 model.
