I owned a 308GTS QV and had no problems over ~ 4 years. Then I advanced to a '96 355 Spider, and had a few problems but nothing mammoth. However, through ownership I learned about 355 weaknessess .. headers, top, cats, valves etc etc. Now I'm pondering a 360 spider.

Question: What are the weak points of the 360 Spider... more or less than the 355?

I tried the archives but no direct hits.

    Regards,

    Pete

I've owned them both. the 360 is better than the 355 in every way except the exhaust note. if you have the money, i'd go for it.

I have the same experience, same views. Didn't have a tubi on my 355 but my 360 with Tubi has an exhaust note I'm addicted to, considerably better than the stock exhaust note on my 355.

And the looks. I have a 355 with Tubi Headers /Tubi Exhaust and Hyperflows and arrived at the point you are at. The 355 is a great car and for the difference in price even with what I have put into the 355 what you get in the 360 is not worth it in my view. And yes I have driven both.

Dude called "spiderman" had both the 355 spider and 360 spider for a number of years. He sold the 360 last month to by a Range Rover. And still has the 355 spider, there was no contest. The mans got sense.

    Im the minority here...

    Ive had 2x F355GTS...both 1995s

    and 2x 360s. A 360 Spider 6 speed and a 360 Challenge.

I love the 355...much more than the 360. In fact out of the 4, I only have my 355 in Munich left.

Aside from the mechanical headaches, I find the 355 more fun to drive..it has a better sound..and I even think it looks better too

The 355 has to many issues that can rob you big time!!!!!The exhaust headers can cost you 4k a side installed by the dealer and they break after that repair just check the search on this site......Engine out service 5k a pop and thats if they dont come across somthing along the way....Valve guides, gummie interior parts, steering racks on and on!!!!! This will go down as the most expensive model in modern times.......I still love the look and sound with TUBI AND TEST PIPES!!!!!!The 360 is a big leap in many ways and is very solid and tough car.....I had long talk with a Tech at ALGAR who has 20 years experence working on these rides and they love the 360 way more....

I think my experience with my 98 355 F1 Spider is a negative outlier, but in ONE YEAR, I had BOTH exhaust manifolds go, a cat went, left door handle broke, digital gear indicator burned, handbrake electric signal problems, top leaked. Got the 15K engine out service the same year and all told, I spent almost $18K on the car. Loved the looks but what a pain in the ax. My 360 is still under warrant, thank the good L.

I wish we had an ongoing thread tracking maintenance work. This would be very helpful especially from those who purchased brand new.

    I had a '97 355
Check engine light, cause: bad CAT
replaced under warranty but had other work done can't remember what

    Oil Change
    Roughly $120.00

I agree with this. The 355 has too many potential things that could go wrong for big$$. Mine was fairly mint and had the header issue and the interior looks like something from the 80's. Eventually you will have to deal with dash shrinkage and bubling/sticky plastic on top of the engine issues. I liked the looks and love the sound but wouldn't buy another one no matter how good of a deal.

Ferrari suc#@ for screwing the customer ongoing with this issue!!!!They have the balls to keep selling exhaust headers that will fail in time!!!!This is just plain robbery!!!!!The f355 community should send Mr todt a letter exposing this for what it is theft!!!!BEN

I currently have a 99' 355 F1 Spider and and 03' 360 F1 Spider. The 355 has been sold, but is not scheduled for delivery to the new owner until next week. For the last couple of weeks I have been driving both cars on an alternating basis. My bottom line conclusion is that the 360 is a better car. The 360 is more comfortable, more modern, slightly faster, better handling, smoother shifting, much more solid (less rattles, etc.), has more storage space (for weekend trips), has more usable torque, much better electric top, etc. The 355 has a better appearance from behind (the front looks dated with the retracting lights) and slightly better exhaust note (both have Tubi's). The 360 cost twice as much as the 355. Is it twice as good? Certainly not. Is it considerably better? Absolutely. Tim
