Hey all, anyone have experience with installing a new windshield in a 355? Any tips? I am putting one in this afternoon. Have new glass and surrond moldings.

    Thanks, Dave

From everything Ive seen and heard, its hard to get right. Good luck. Maybe its too late but, never have anyone do it unless they have done lots of Ferrari windshields in the past.

My 348 is getting a new windscreen next monday, but nowhere near as brave as you - it's being done by the local main dealer. Even they say they're a pain to do. As Gerry said, good luck. :)

My guy did it quite easily....a real pro!

Cost me 500$ for the installation and 1000$ for a brand new original Piklington Sigla

He also was able to save the trim work which saved me another 1000$+

Take it a 355 spider has the aerial in the glass?

Pete I am not familiar with that lingo but if you mean the antenna, the answer is yes. It's an original OEM windshield with antenna and mirror clip.

    Purchased it from prosourceglassintl.com

Not easy at all, had mine done by a dealership, right now it's back there being redone cause the molding isn't sitting right and I have wind coming in.

Well, the old windshield first had the rubber gasket cut and removed. Then the cold knife was inserted to cut the sealant between the glass and the frame. Once the windsield was removed the old sealant was stripped off the pinchweld. Then we used a pinchweld primer after any surface rust was taken care of. The new windshield and moulding assembly was put together. The passenger vent was removed to gain access to the antenna wire. It is directly inside of it. Once the pinchweld primer was dry, about 3-4 minutes, the sealant was then laid on the pinchweld and around the rubber gasket and windshield. The windshield assembly was then lowered down far enough to pass the antenna wire in through it's access. Carefully the glass was sealed inplace. 1.5 hours and it was done. No fenders loosened or interior mouldings loosened. Mirror just twists off and pops back on. $3271.15 total pice and fits like a glove. All OEM factory parts. I did save the mouldings if anyone needs a set. Hope this info helps.

It just amazes me that a "good deal" is $500 for labor here - a regular windshield in just about any other car is about $100 in labor at the most.

You're 100% correct. 500$ is still a lot of money for 90 minutes of work. However, you're paying for the person's knowledge, not his labor.

Plus he knows how to remove the trim without damaging it thus saving another 1000$.

It is lucky we have good insurance (when it comes to windshields) here, we only have to pay $300 deductible and if it requires a new trim then that is included no matter the cost.

Ah well then you made out way better than I did.....

Mine was not broken but it had a white oxidation stain within the glass that was about 3 X 6 inches and was driving me crazy so I figured why not change it now? I was repainting the entire car at the time so the timing was perfect.

Is pinklington the same as sigla? I just opened my windshield from scuderia parts and when I saw the imprint it says piklington I was shocked and was confused what is going on. Everything on the car is marked sigla, is this an original part some 355s came with?

The correct name is Pilkington and, yes, they now make the original Ferrari F355 windshield. The etching in the lower driver's side corner should look like this...

Yes what I have all matches as you indicated but i am wondering did any factory 355 come with the plinkington stamp on the windshield? The windshield i replaced has this logo as shown in the pic. All the windows on the car say sigla and nothing says plinkington Image Unavailable, Please Login
