Anyone in Arizona run a 355 with test pipes? I'm curious if there are problems passing emissions here?

    Thanks in advance

Without cats, you're not passing in AZ.

A friend here in Vegas has a Diablo that passes with no cats.

They obviously don't physically check for the cats then. In Az. they want to see the damn things. Makes no sense to me but that's how they do it in the Peoples Republic of Arizona.:(

You sure they look for them? I know they check under the car with a mirror, but I thought that was just to look for cheaters that may be diverting exhaust out somewhere other than the tailpipes.

Also, with the 355, will they try to put in on the rollers or is it just an idle test?

If you have a 1996 or newer 355 than you have the OBDII system where they plug into your OBD port for the emmision test no rolling test. A 1995 model would go on the rollers since it is OBDI. Also when you remove your cats you will get a CEL come on which means you flunk for sure. There are ways to rewire your O2 sensors to trick the ECU but thats another story.

I have a 95. I read that someone got a waiver in another state because the car was too low for the rollers, was hoping I'd get as lucky here.

Looks like it passed emissions with flying colors in Phx last year with hollow cats (which the inner ring has now come loose and rattles. Imagine my surprise when I pulled down my cat and could see through it!). I think I'm going to gamble with dropping in the test pipes instead of hyperflows, especially since I think the Tucson test is less strict. I figure worst case I have to go through the hassle of putting the faux cats back on to pass visual. (Unless worse, worst case I have a set of testers for sale in a few months.)
