So I have test pipes and disconnected ECU's....... Yesterday I had 5-8 slow down light come on for a few seconds........... Anybody got any thoughts? Thanks Chas
yup I thought since everything is disconnected I should never get the light. It was only on for a few seconds.........no effect on the drive.
I had the same problem on my 1997, I have no idea why. I have test pipes with ecus disconnected which I eventually connected because the right bank would cut out(when it was disconnectected-go figure) Now it runs great since I replaced all 4 o2 sensors. You gotta love Ferrari electrics! ??? Mark
I wanted to be clear, my slow down light would cycle repeatedly in addition to my other problems-great fun! M.
Yes and I have contacted the ECU police as well as the men in black they are enroute and should have Chas in custody within the hour!!!!!!!!!
many things in life are illegal, whether they are enforced or not by the law is another thing. I see DRAG cars driving around on leaded fuel on their way to the drag strip by my house. <3 Oklahoma
Why are so many intent on removal of so much designed in emmission stuff? Has anyone ever benefitted from its removal, other than the old "pucker" factoid, I am sure that the difference, if any, in performance would hardly be noticed on the road by 95% of people. These cars perform very well when kept in good order.
exactly! So when one by one, everybody is prepared to do "the right thing" themselves maybe my descendents will remember us as a generation who reversed the curse. Just MHO (but, having just got off the plane from spain, I hardly needed to really go. But hey! It was free!)
You are kidding right? The 355 engine was designed and then the cats were added for North America. I am of the belief that a lot of the problems that happen with the 355 engine are connected to the fact that they run very very hot and the cats trap or slow down the gasses thereby causing header and valve guide problems. As for feeling the difference with and without cats....If you havnt tried it then you shouldnt say anything because there is a difference in performance and sound. To me keeping your F-car in good order is removing these cats which act as a restricter of heat....Oh they also cause your engine to catch fire...hmmmm
Arthur I know that was sarcastic of me so I apologize since it was unwarranted, but If I may explain. To me the silly fact about the hyro-carbon output of vehicles is this. Atleast in Tennessee anyway, we have an exemption for all vehicles 1974 and older from even testing not just any type of catalytic converter. So my father can drive his classic 501 V8 cadillac everyday which he did up until a very short time ago. I can drive my 60 corvette everyday and the small block v8 just pumps out those hydro-carbons as fast as they can, but my 355 which I drive less than 1000 miles a year needs a cat. I'm sorry but I would be a lot more concerned if someone removed his cats from his 2000 Tahoe which is driven everyday than a guy who's dream car without cats might hit the road once a month. Thats an average but I believe it represents the usual driving habits of most F-car owners.
