Yeah. Changed it. Same result. The pump - although not perfect - is operating within parameters. They'd pretty much checked everything else, then Nicholas (Genyosai) chimed in saying he'd had similar symptoms and they found it was the bearing leaking and fouling the F1 sensor. Now it looks like the bearing is leaking on my car. I've ordered and paid for the upgraded part so we'll swap it (and the sensor) and see what happens. It's the most solid lead so far.
Cool. The hill bearing is way better anyways. The stock ones split the metal apart.... did the tech say what fluid it was that was leaking? F1 fluid or gearbox oil etc?
This sounds more reasonable based on your last symptoms. What was their opinion of the CEL that kept coming on during your gear change spats?
Agreed. No matter what, if the original bearing is shot I'm happy to replace it with the Hill one. I can't remember exactly what they said the fluid was, but suffice to say when they looked on and around the (clutch?) inspection plate it was very wet. The opinion is that once all sorts of erroneous signals were being sent to the ECU it went into limp mode hence why it sounded like a bag of bolts for those few seconds. And sorry if I gave the wrong impression but the CEL only came on that one time. All the other times the car just coasted to a stop and sat there with the gear indicator flashing. It's important to note I'm paraphrasing everything here. Once I have an experts report of what's going on I'll post it up.
Bearing arrived today, which was remarkably fast! Sensor is being ordered, then we're ready to go. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Steve If your this far into it also remove the flange there are two small O/rings behind it that get hard and start to leak.part #47.Lots of times people think its the throw out bearing and learn the hard way after its all put together and still leaking..Don't ask me how i found this out.lol.Not only that you can have a pressure loss. They are very easy to match up.F1 cars and sticks have them. Michael
Thanks Michael Can you be a little more specific re the O/rings? Is there a link to the part from Ricambi or something? I'd be happy to order them as well if it's likely to eliminate the possibility of missing something.
On Ricambi Table 24 clutch control on the F1 cars the part# is 47 on stick cars # is 34 Steve you don't need to order them any parts store with O/ring's can match them up. Michael
