I tried to start my 355 today after a long winter in CT. It had been on a trickle charger and started fine but hadn't been turned over in 3-4 months. I let it warm up for 15 mins and tried to back it out of the garage but the car wouldn't go into gear, reverse or otherwise. I just get a shrill warning beep, beep, beep and it goes back to neutral. Let me preface this by admitting that I do NOT work on my own car so please don't recommend that I do major service on my own. I'm just trying to figure out what might be wrong and if there is something simple that I can do before having it towed in for service.

Sounds like a door or the engine lid may not be closed all the way. Also check to see if the front trunk lid is securely latched. This happened to me at a car show and it was because my engine lid wasn't closed all the way.

My car did the same exact thing once and it was the rear latch. The sensor wasn't lined up correctly. Easy fix at $0 and you should be on the road again soon.
