I honestly think that my 355 w/ tubi is one of the best exhaust notes ive ever heard, i enjoy it much more than my buddies 360 w/ the same exhaust, i dont know if its the muffler, or the motor or what.

But my 355 just has that sound, when people think of what a ferrari should sound like. They think 355 w/ tubi, thats the sound thats in thier head.

They both sound good, but a 360 with Capristo level 3 sounds the best.

The sound difference between the 355 and the 360 could be the pre-cat and cat setup/side on the 360. The 355 has just a single cat/side. Could be that the double unit setup muffles/modifies the sound on the 360. Everything else about the engine and exhaust are almost identical ie; 5 valve head, tube style exhaust.

for what it's worth, I agree. And the technical reason is that the 2 banks in the 360 are split, and in the 355's exhaust they are combined. This makes the 355 have a higher pitched more harmonious 'howl'.

IMO stock vs. stock exhaust sounds better in the 355. Just sold one and switched to the 360 and the sound just isn't the same.

Had my 355 with Tubi test pipes and the sound was off the hook good!!! The stock sound was good also just not as high pitched and harmonic as the Tubi&pipes.....My 360 is still stock and that is going to change this spring. The sound sucks all intake noise....Ferrari put this big heavy can in the car that sounds weak at best...What were they thinking????? They produce a huge jump with everything but there trade mark sound...They just missed it with this part of the car.....I think one of the engineers on the development side has TUBI STOCK!!!! There is hope just heard a sound clip of a 360 with TUBI&PIPES.....VERY AGGRESSIVE.....BEN

I agree that the sound of the 355 with test pipes and in my case a Capristo exhaust is one of the best sounding engines. I did test drive a 360 with Capristo level 2 and that sound was just amazing as well...
Bottom line - 10 times better than either stock system.

guys, I am waiting for a few videos that a professional photographer shot of my car 2 weeks ago. He was taking pictures for a poster for an upcoming car show in cinci, so I asked him to shoot a few videos of me "flying" by him at high rpms in my 355 spider with capristo and test pipes and Kevin's headers. I have not seen the video, but should be sweet! I will post a seperate post as soon as I get the video (on DVD) in my hands. Where would be the best place to post this? Putfile?

    thanks

another amazing exhaust for both the 355 and the 360 happens to be the Kreis Seig F1 Valvetronic exhaust systems. The music they produce is incredible

About a year ago, we heard a red 355B in Manhattan, around 34th and 8th.

That thing sounded sooooooo good. - It sounded like an organ-donor bike.

I posted this in a different thread but:

I have always loved Ferraris, but no more than any other exotic sports car. That all changed one afternoon when I was walking in downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue. From blocks away i could hear what sounded like 5 or 6 high revving crotch rocket bikes. But yet, it also could go deep down in the sound band and really hit the low notes too. I had no idea what it was and then all of the sudden, I see a yellow 355 spider get closer. It's engine output was sheer perfection. The man in the front was a 40-50 year old asian male that had the biggest smile on his face I think i've ever seen. This smile never faded from his face and he wasn't driving fast but just loving the city, the sun, the wind in his hair, and the sound of the engine behind him. Above all, in my mind he felt as though he was on top of the world and this feeling is what makes getting up in the morning and going to work all worth it.

Although I took away from that experience perhaps way more than I should have, I have become an enthusiast and want to know what it is like to own a ferrari, drive it, and get that Ferrari Smile on my face! I discipline myself everyday to work hard, save my money, invest wisely, and keep my goals in mind so that perhaps one day I will get my 355.

To sum all of that up...the sound, but above all it is about giving myself the ultimate reward for working hard towards my goals.

brilliant video! I love it when people DON'T put music in the video. Anyway, I'm saving up for a house, then a 360, and I've already decided I'm going to do the Kreissieg exhaust...

But your 355 still seems to have a slightly higher howl than a 360 with the Kreisieg, and definitely higher than the 430 with one.

What's the yearly maintenance cost for your 355?
