    Hi Ross, long time. I didn't realize your car had a sunroof. This must have been the first year after the V shaped one. Nice work! What color are you going with? PPG or Glassurit paint?

    Hi Jay- yes it has been a long time- how are you going on your project? My Pre A is not a sunroof- you prob got confused by the pic early in this thread of my 59 Sunroof which is in the shop at same time. The Pre A Paint color will be the original Radium Green which is one of my fav Pre A colors- so lucky me in finding this particular car.

    One of my larger regrets in this life. The year was 1991 and I was in need of 20k for a great real estate deal (which I do not regret). I had speedster #'s 80074 and 80159 in rough not running condition. You win some, .......

    Whoa. 1951 Pre A 1500 just sold at RMsotherbys tonite for $1,017,500- against estimate of $600-700k- that must be a world record for a split window

    Keep em coming Ross. Is that the correct voltage regulator? I remember it being square. Also don't forget the metal band that covers the brushes and the rubber boots for the connectors on the generator

    I've seen several of the first Pre a cars delivered new into Australia- they all have this round regulator . Dewhites Bosch Generator literature also shows this type in an illustration next to the conventional square type . I've also seen this round regulator online next to its NOS carton with the description " VW Mercedes Porsche Pre A". I'd imagine the factory just used what was available- seems curious that so many of these came on cars to Aust.

    Update- car now prepped for paint an several large parts orders gone out to vendors ( wow haven't parts gotten expensive in last couple of years)
    So planning to have this PreA assembled and driving by September. Ill post some pics when body comes back from painters.

    My car is a Dec 52 Cab. Black with red interior.

    Can’t wait to see the car painted.

    Hi Jay. I’m going to replace the Voltage Regulator with the D Shaper version correct for my 53 Super motor but these items are difficult to find - any ideas on where I can find one ? I’m watching Samba
