I'm no expert on the issue, but perhaps the gauge or censor in the tank is failing intermittently.

This is the main reason why I don't trust my gas gauge in the first place. I go by mileage

Most likely the fuel level sender within the tank, a relatively common problem on the 360's. Search that topic and I'm certain you'll find a lot of info regarding it.

As I understand it, early models had a level sender in the tank that would get obstructed as the tank was full and the max the gauge would read is like 3/4 to 7/8 full.

There is a thread that describes replacement of the level sender... sorry can't remember which one. Does involve removing the pump on the drivers side tank. Ricambi had updated part.

Your close. Lever arm on the old unit is too short so not sufficient leverage to show full. The new unit has a longer lever arm.

Older cars you have to pull the top to replace the unit. Newer cars have an access panel under the top. Either way, it is a pain.

There is a detailed replacement thread written by rayjohn. Search his threads for fuel sending unit and you will find it.

    Yes, Ricambi has the part.
