I have a 360 Spider with the OEM subwoofer box so I have the OEM amp as well as the most recent Becker radio taken out of a F599. I am thinking of changing the speakers in the doors (both the mid-range and tweeters). What are the suggestions? I would prefer a drop in replacement.
Focal all the way around. They fit perfectly. Their 5" sub was the closest thing in size to the original but had to modify the grill to get it to fit. Everything now looks stock other than the head unit but sound 10000x better.
It's not an actual sub, buddy. Agree focals make great replacements, but the 5" focal won't get you true low end. You have to add a real sub to the mix. You ever see the box I had made with the low profile kicker compVT? The 6.5" Kicker is the smallest sub you can buy, only $75, and I have a thread where to put the box for optimum effect, right under the dash. You want it under the dash facing down into the carpet, makes the whole car resonate and that kicker is the only one that will fit there. You have to pull the factory amp basket though, which is no hardship either. An Arc amp will fit right under the dash as replacement. As for which speakers to use, Gh has recommended the best, no question. I went with Boston Acoustic. Coming from the factory stereo, you could buy anything at it would sound amazing compared. But it all has to go. Keep the Becker for resale time, but don't torture yourself listening to it. Yank everything. Good speakers are only good if they get good signal. The Becker is garbage.
Agreed. I just needed something better than stock and didn't want to replace the amp. I think if I had a spyder I would to take it to the next level though.
