So I have a little problem. I recently bought a new pickup and open aluminum trailer. I previously had a 24' enclosed trailer for my Porsches. The 430 just fits on the sides, but opening the driver door seems impossible. The lowest part of the door will hit the wheels if I open it, making it impossible to exit the car.

So my question is if any of you guys have a similar car/trailer combo and have incurred this problem, what did you do? Do I have to drive up on something to clear the door by an inch or two?

The other problem is the ramps. The trailer has space under the mid section that hold 6' ramps. The slope of the ramp is not great enough to clear the bumper so that the front wheels can get on. I have gotten hold of 7 footers, and they seem to work. The problem now being the space below won't accommodate them. (i know that can't really be fixed, just sucks.) Are raceramps the way to go? Or some other homemade method just to clear the bumper.

I attached a picture of how far I got the car up. Please no jokes about how its still on the ground :D

I used an open trailer before that my 360 doors didn't clear the trailer wheels. I had a friend with a low floor jack put it under the rear driver side. He gave me the few inches I needed so I can open the door and get out. Did the same thing when unloading the car.

Not a great fix but you can make either wood or aluminum 2X12 "runners" that the tires ride on. I did this to my steel trailer. For the ramps on my Featherlite I just keep a piece of 2X10X36 slide in on top of the ramps for when I need to get the 360 or the Viper up on it.

Thanks for the "runners" tip. I think I'll either use some type of flat ramps that lie down, or have something fabricated.

    I use these.

Little pricey, but they are very light and easy to use.
As for the door problem I have the same issue and I just use my wench.
Otherwise it's a Bo and Luke Duke maneuver.

The only open trailer that works with a F430, 360, Italia, Scuderia is the TRAILEX CT-8045.

I had a low profile Featherlite 3110 open trailer, and it was a tight fit, I needed to remove the trailer fenders, and get the car on 2x6x12 wood blocks to be able to open the doors.

CT-8045 is perfect, no need to remove fenders, just a 2x6x24 to clear the ramps or the raceramps tr5, and widest open trailer between fenders for one of the widest cars in the market.

I've been checking those out. Price isn't the issue at this point. I think I'll order a set tomorrow.

Technically I could back it up, but the D rings have been customized for the car with regards to specific placement on the floor. I think it would look ridiculous if I towed it facing the other way too :)

The front air dam was also custom for the height of the 430s front nose/window line. Not that it wouldn't fit other cars, but I wouldn't have made all the measurements knowing that the rear of the car would be where the front was designed for.

Nothing wrong with backing it up if that allows you to get out - seems like an easy solution. You could also just climb out the window, but would then have to tow with window down... Alternatively, you can have an electric (or manual) winch mounted on the trailer and just winch it up.

Great. I literally just bought it. I am going to contact them tomorrow and see what they say. If I can get a refund I'll buy the Trailex or fabricate some type of block to drive up on. This wasn't much cheaper than the Trailex. Had I known this info before the purchase I would have bought the 8045.

I had sent in the exact measurements, and everything seemed to be right. I just didn't check the door height. Coming from previous trailer experience I should have known. This particular trailer is 80 inches wide, the base version is only 76. Its still tight, but it fits.

Thanks for the info. I should have consulted with you beforehand. You seem to be the track wizard. I really appreciate your input on the site.

    Do you use the CT8045?

Of course my luck would have it that it would still hit the door. If I want the winch installed, I have to either remove the air scoop, or cut a hole in it so it can be mounted. The winch would be mounted on the front frame bars which are in front of the air scoop.

I pulled my G37 on it and the door cleared no problem. The 430 is just a little too low and long.
