When I start my car I'm hearing a ticking/seeking sound and it seems to be coming for the AC compressor. When the car warms up, noise goes away. Any suggestions as to what is causing this? Thanks

Just curious as to how you worked out it may be coming from the a/c compressor?

Did you hear the noise come and go when you turn the aircon on?

When you first start pretty much any car with the aircon on, after it runs for a few seconds or less you will hear a clicking/ticking sound from the aircon compressor when the clutch kicks in to turn it on.

Do you think it may be that noise possibly? Once the clutch kicks in, it will stay that away until it kicks out when the compressor cycles again or you turn it on and off etc.

Thank you for your reply. I had the car on jack stands with the rear under removed . I was under the car and next to the AC Compressor when I heard the sound the first time. So I feel sure it's coming from there. I will try what you suggested. Again, thank you. Mel

Is it just one click when someone turns the AC on while you’re under the car?
Or is it multiple ticking sounds?

I’m thinking exhaust leak if it’s multiple ticking that goes away when it’s warm.

If you can’t be sure, remove the accessory belt to isolate the AC compressor.

I never thought of a exhaust leak, it's just like you said,, multiple ticking that goes away when it warms up. Thank you very much for your information!! Mel
