My 2003 360 spider is not blowing ice cold air. The hight pressure refriderant line under the passenger dash is warm. I think the compressor is working but the system may be low on 134A. Where is the port to recharge the AC circuit on a 360?
If you just wanna recharge, go here. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/383067-1999-ferrari-360-ac-recharge.html
Your refrigerator has a compressor sealed inside a can pierced only by an electrical connection. With luck, it could run for 50 years or even more. Your Ferrari, on the other hand, uses a belt driven compressor with a conventional shaft seal with the atmosphere on one side and the refrigerant gas on the other. Naturally, over the years, your car will leak a tiny bit of refrigerant. This is exacerbated by the fact that by not using the A/C regularly, the seal is not kept in optimum condition. If you use the A/C for a few minutes each month, including winter, your system will thank you. Anyhow, there is a good chance all you need is a recharge. Any A/C shop can do this; no need to visit any place with prancing horses on the wall. If that doesn't fix it, then dig deeper, but stick with a good A/C shop.
As above link. Under panel in the front trunk in front of windshield. Remove and its on the left hand side. Outer twist off cap. Might want to let us know where you are.. a little more about ya'..
Thanks, Car is 2003 360 spider with 19+K on the odometer. It is run in the winter when conditions permit. It is serviced yearly at Algar. Apart from ususal belt service, tires, brakes and Clutch, no breakdowns or malfunctions. Just fun to drive. AC weak this year when the weather turned warm. I am located 1hr north of Philadelphia. Found the post with pictures for AC recharging. I will find a good AC shop or use a friend who is a HVAC professional with all the right equipment. Will let you know how it goes.
By "it" I assume you mean the car. When you do run it, be sure to run the A/C for a little while, no matter how low the temperature. Your shaft seal will be happy.
I've got a leaky AC unit. It is a very slow leak and so I need to have the refrigerant topped off at annual and then it's good for a year. The shop puts dye in the compressor to help diagnose the leak, but it never shows a trace because the leak is so slow. However, I once also had a problem where one of the brackets holding the compressor had cracked. I needed to replace that bracket in order for the compressor to run because it lost tension on the belt.
