Ok this is gonna be short . Hung out here for about 5 months got terrified a few times reading some of the nightmares and bought an 02 1904 miles 6 speed spider. Bought car sight unseen in New York had 2 ppi's done brought it too F&M day it arrived . Now at 8200 miles did full service 1 year ago did annual and an oil change Car has been like a friigin Toyota .Starts, runs every time ,,,had a flasher replaced for free threw on some test pipes no codes other then a loose cap first week .. Dont be afraid of these cars . Yes you can have problems I have had nothin. FInd a great mechanic and drive the machine .. THis forum is amazing but too much can become overkill . I was petrified the first few times I started the car anticipating one of the hundreds of problems I had read about here.. Im sorry this probably dosnt help anybody as I see a lot of people on the fence trying to quell the unknown from occurring sorry you cant drive while your in front of your computer reading about these cars.

Well let's hope BETTER than a Toyota! :)

I agree. There's too much fear out there scaring too many away from their life long dream.

I report the same findings. 3 years of ownership and 3 oil changes one set of spark plugs. It's been a great car.

I have had mine I think 3 years? anyway I have driven her almost 10k miles (bought with 6k)

in 10k miles I used up around 25% clutch (not bad!) and 20% brakes (not bad) and I need new tires soon :)

besides 1 major and just fluids the only other problem has been 1 bad 02 sensor, I cannot think of anything else..

so 10k miles in 3 years and essentially no issues I can think of off top of my head..

It starts with a good car. Buy a fixer-upper Like the one I bought and expect nothing but problems. Although I must admit, I still like it 10X more than the 348 I had. ;)

I bought an 04 in 06, put 10K miles on the clock and have had no issues other than an oil transducer reading low oil, causing a slight overfill. Other than that, rock solid.

Still on original clutch, just changed out the belts and battery (odyssey 925), very low cost of ownership

Approaching 4 years and 25K miles on my '02 F1 coupe --- standard maintenance only and zero issues of any kind. LOOKS expensive but rock solid ;-)

I'll be pretty soon coming up on my one year with my '00 360 coupe as well. Did full belt and fluid service when I bought it with 18k miles on it, now 3k miles later and no problems at all.

The only thing I worry about, after reading horror reports here, is the variators. Mine were replaced per the factory service bulletin (before my term of ownership), but I've heard the occasional report here of even the new variators going, causing catastrophic engine failure. It really looks like a design flaw in the part being too thin (not enough material) and not strong enough.

I love revving to redline through the gears, but I can never get that little worry out of the back of my head everytime I do, that it's taking a small chance on losing the variators. Probably worrying over nothing, I'm sure it's less than a 0.1% chance of anything happening, just mentioning here as my experience has also been very positive but it's something for a potential future owner to keep in mind.
