360 air intake

    Hi all, im replacing the heat exchanger by removing the air intake and found that mine doesnt have the "trumpets" on top. Am i wrong? Any ideas?

    I have no idea what they're supposed to look like, however, here is an engine picture from my files (copied from "Spiderscott" in the UK) a while back.

    Looks similar to yours. Hope this helps

    Hey Curt, not that it makes a difference, do the other (maybe older/earlier cars) have horns like the F355?

    Looks like they machined the 'trumpet' right into the casting. My 2002 BMW M5 has individual, different length plastic horns on each throttle body in the air plenum.

    Interesting.

    FYI what you are talking about is called a velocity stack.
    it increases the speed of air going through by compressing it from a larger to a smaller diameter bore thus increasing the velocity. With your setup looks like you partially have that.
    Same principal applies to the exhaust but in reverse. if you increase the diameter of your exhaust too much, the gas slows down as it has room to expand and doesn't leave the system as fast in turn hurting performance.
