Anyone have a cheaper source for the Bosche 360 alarm unit, or am I gonna have to bend over for Ferrari? I pulled it apart today hoping it just needed batteries, but battery acid was all over it. I tried to test it with a standard 9V battery, and it didn't work so I'm assuming the unit is bad. A 9V battery should be able to make it work momentarily right? Your input on either a better test, or where to get the unit are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The correct voltage for that module is 7.2 volts. I personally wouldn't run 9 volts through it if you don't have to. You might fry an IC or something if you aren't careful. Most likely it's okay, but you never know. Also, unless the acid has really done a number on it, normally they will still work. Can you post a picture of how bad the circuit board looks?

Also, here is a post I made on the subject some time ago that might help. I think I included a source for 7.2 volt batteries if you need it:

When you attached the 9 volt battery, was it hooked up to the car? What method did you use to see if it was still working or not?

I ran wires from the 9v to the + and - of the circuit board in the siren. The I plugged it back into the car and cycled the alarm on and off with the wireless remote. It didn't chirp like it was supposed to. Here's a picture of the circuit board.

umm... I would say most likely that board cannot be saved. It's possible that you could clean it up and it might still work, but probably fairly unlikely. You could try though.

I don't know if the board would function at 9 volts or not or if that would be enough to blow an IC on there out. Normally, if something is rated at X voltage, it's best not to go much higher of course. But in some cases, you can get away with it.

I would say most likely you are in the market for a complete new siren module all right.

That's what I was thinking. I figured a couple extra volts just to test the board was no big deal, and I figured it was toast anyway by the look of it. I didn't want to buy two new batteries just to find out the board is bad. I'll start calling the F dealers and pricing the module. I looked everywhere on the internet and couldn't find anything similar from another source. Thanks for your help.

It looks more than just acid damage from the pic... or may be just the lighting and shadow.
I am not sure what the dealer is charging for the alarm siren unit, but you can find some on Ebay.
    http://search.stores.ebay.com/ferrari-360-alarm_Parts-Accessories_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC12QQfromZR10QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQsabfmtsZ1QQsacatZ6028QQsaobfmtsZinsifQQsbrexpZWD1SQQsifZ1QQsofpZ4QQssPageNameZWD1S

if the link does not work, goto ebay store and search for Ferrari 360 alarm.

However, not sure if it is worth buying used one w/o any warranty.

    good luck,
