I just finished the belt service and was putting the accessory belts on after test running the engine. The AC and Power Steering belts went on fine.

When I tired to put the alternator / water pump belt on it was very difficult and required a lot struggling. I was using the bolt to adjust the tension and was at 60 hz when the adjustment bolt broke! I ordered a new one and installed it.

All the belts were new from Ricambi.

Struggled to put the belt on again and again at 62 hz and it's taking a lot of torque to move the adjuster. I have even tried to use a pry bar to help move the tensioner pulley. I don't want to put any more torque on the adjuster bolt since I broke the last one. it's like I am at the end of the adjustment but I know it only moved a small amount.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I did start the car and let it run for a while and it seem to run ok without any belt squealing.

You should be able to get 90-125Hz . You should be nowhere at the end of the adjustment..
Can you confirm with Ricambi you have the correct belt.
Is the bottom mounting bolt loosened. If not the alternator won't pivot to allow the belt to slip on.

You confirmed it matched the same thing you took off the car originally, right? 201446. 1216 K6

I will check on the belt number
I think something else is going on
I would think the adjuster should not bind with little movement.

It’s like it bottoms out with very little movement . I will take it apart tonight and verify everything.

I replaced the adjuster bolt before and was able to get the right frequency with the old belt.

I had trouble as well getting the belt to slip on. The trick was to ease it on using your thumbs to "evenly clear" the pulley edge circumference if that makes sense.

And, like you, I snapped the tensioning bolt after bottoming it out by screwing it in clockwise.

Quick follow-up - removed the belt and adjuster pulley and the stud that is suppose to move is stuck - I will remove the mounting plate to see what is going on.

Follow up on the belt issue
First would like to thank FCAR TECH great call on loosening the Alternator - that worked get for getting the belt on.
Once I was able to unbind the bolt - everything worked find and I now have 100hz on the belt.
    Thanks for all the advice.
