Finally got my audio upgrade done and thought I'd share yet another example for those who may be contemplating this (thanks to @-DC- and @BrandonH for their inspiring posts). After much exhaustive research, I brought my car to Carl Hubbard at Car Audio Innovations (www.caraudioinnovations.com) in Roseville, CA to do the work (I didn't mind driving some distance to have the right shop work on my car...). Porsche folks on Rennlist swear by these guys and I have to say their humble website belies the volume of exotics they work on. Moreover, my personal experience was truly superb - the craftsmanship and attention to detail was second to none and they were extremely knowledgable and true honest brokers on equipment, etc. If you're in Northern California and thinking of getting some system work done on your Fcar - highly recommend giving them a ring.

Was very much trying to stick to the theme of a true OEM look and wanted to end result to be dramatically improved sound while keeping the factory look. I have the factory hi-fi system so took advantage of the factory amp tray and woofer box. For those of you around the area, happy to have you come by for a listening session if you are thinking about doing an upgrade and want to see/hear the end result before diving in...just drop me a PM. Here's the equipment list and some pics of the install:

    1. Head unit: Kenwood KDC-X997
    2. Amps: 2 ARC Audio KS125.2 mini-amps (70w x 2ch) - one mounted in factory CD changer location using factory bolt holes and the second one mounted in the factory hi-fi amp tray
    3. Door speakers: Hertz HSK 165 6.5" components (had to use the Hertz tweeter grills as the factory grill doesn't fit)
    4. Hi-Fi sub-woofer box: 2 Focal 13KS Polykevlar sub-woofers (direct replacement in the factory 5.25" cutouts), with custom built grills to look like the factory ones. The stock grills will rub against the 13KS woofer cone so Carl hand built some custom ones. As a note, he did awesome work on these, IMHO think they are vastly superior to the factory ones in fit, finish and materials...

...and yes, sound improvement is phenomenal!!

Here are some pics of the install:

I have Defintiely enjoyed the Arc Audio amp, great amp and very small footprint. I have mine under the dash and it runs my separates and 10" sub very well.. Everything is out of sight and besides the point of my HVAC relocation and double din.
