Aloha 6 years ago i did the belt change with a friend. I just started to do it again by myself and came across a road block i nned to remove the alt, power steriing and AC belts first, I do not remember how we did this last time, Typ on other cars you relive the pressure on the belts by putting a wrench on the tesinsor pully nut. Hmmmmm I guess I need help I was able remove the belt crankshaft drive cover without taking of the lower underpanel Mahalo John
u need to remove the under tray to allow water drain. there's a hose(metal tube connect to a rubber hose) blocking the way to lose the right hand timing belt cover. U remove this hose , water will splash everywhere for me, the only belt need to be removed is the biggest belt, which is loose once you screw the nut down under. its a reverse thread.
Thank You If I get you correctly, only the main belt has to come off, none of the other belts? What about the main crankshaft pully, it is close to the 2 drive pulleys. Will the old belt come off betwenn the 2 pullys or do I got to remove tth main crankshaft pully completly and the assoucisted 2 belts Thank You Again
You should do the forum search, I believe there is at least one write up on how all of this is done. You don't want to screw this process up!! Good luck
My 0.02 Get the workshop manual. Step by step instructions are there with pics. Personally I would: Replace all accessory belts as long as u r there. Flush and replace coolant Replace the tensioner bearings as long as u r there. Been at least 6 years for you - assuming you did em last time. Good time to check cam seals, cam covers, and rear cam inspection gaskets for leaking, and PCV breather hose for oil on valve covers. Check variators, unless u r sure they don't need replacing. ( replace immediately if old design, and IIRC 100k km if newer design)
