While replacing the belts, the technician pointed out some minor dampness on the passenger cam seal and a very small amount of oil on the driver side seal. The technician said it is really a "tweener" as to whether the seals should be replaced now or left alone. Any advice? I have seen arguments on both sides.

I suggest you contact Dave at Scuderia Rampante for his opinion and advice. He has studied this problem; ask the man who knows.

In my opinion, you should fix everything (even minor stuff) in the engine bay at cam belt replacement time.

If they are in there already, and the belts are off, and they can get to a leaking seal, why wait? Gitterdun. I would change the seals. Why wait for them you REALLY start leaking bad?

They are not going to suddenly stop leaking, they will only get worse, as stated, have them replaced as long as you're in there anyway.

"When in doubt, toss it out". :D

Yes, replace the weeping or leaking cam seals while the engine is already pulled apart. :)

They can be great reliable cars. Stay ahead of the curve, replace the seals and then your mind will be able to focus on the road ahead. Can you imagine the image of those seals in the back of your mind every time you drive.

You will need to do it anyway, so why not do it now and get it over with...
    Things will only get worse...
Plus you will need to bring your car in again to fix this = more time at service = less time driving...

For the relative cheap money (compared to the cost of everything else you are having done), you won't regret your choice.
