Hello everyone, I have seen many posts about this but trying to figure out if someone has a definite answer regarding these cam variators.

I have a 2000 360 Modena Eurospec. My engine and VIN fall within the campaign numbers for this issue. Called the dealer and they said I had no open campaigns but also did not see the work being completed. I’ve read that dealers also do not report campaigns for euro spec cars.

No VD stamp and no green dot on the cam variators. The part number on both sides is OMG A998 0C. I have a lots of reason to believe a previous owner addressed this problem but couldn’t find specific work orders stating it’s been done. I’m also missing the first 10 years of work orders for the car though.

Does anyone know for sure if this A998 is the original part or an early upgrade. I realize it’s not the current part number you can buy from Ricambi so makes me think I should just go ahead and replace them.

    Thank you all!!!

0C means March of 2000, you have old defective variators.

That’s what I suspected. I’ve already made an appointment for belt service and to have the variators replaced. Thank you.
