After Targa Tasmania and Adelaide Hills Tarmac the 360 Challenge needed a refresh in several areas.
The lower front ball joints had between 4.5mm and 5mm movement, the Ferrari part now recommends changing the entrire lower swing arm (approx 1255.00 USD), Hill Engineering supplied a better quality ball joint for 240.00 USD (10% Fchat discount). The new ones are far superior to the Ferrari ones, and we had a new one to compare with. We/I noticed a wobbling of steering wheel under braking and thought initially it was brakes or discs, once the new parts are on we will test and I firmly think the movement of the ball joint would create a vibration issue.
The brake discs, well they have lasted quite some time but given the air duct for cooling allows stones, leaves, pieces of bitumen into the hub we noticed if the brakes were warm that they would billow blue smoke.....the pictures show the stones etc collected in the vanes of the disc thus cooling was non existent and anything like leaves and bitumen would get hot and in turn burn, thus problem two of the discs is now being attended to that we will put mesh over the duct and in future to remove the disc is a 15 minute operation thus we will clean the vanes each night and blow out the hubs with compressed air. The discs are brembo and cost a mint, Girodisc in the US do the same disc for 1250.00 for a pair which include bobbins and bolts for the floating effect.
The clutch has lasted 6000+ km and being brass button its main wear is on traffic style take off, the cost of replacement clutch should come in at 200.00 including pressure plate. The sill panels will need some attention as the 3M has worn as well as the fibreglass, the first say 6 inches will have a aluminium coating rivited on. The pics show the discs with stones etc, the bobbins, calipers and other bits. Once togther we will continue to run blue pagids and possibly try yellow pagids. The rears are still new as in disc and we measured the pad wear on the front and 4mm is the loss considering that we have done 3x classic adel, 1.25 targa tas, 3 adel hills tarmac and several track days at Mallala.
As it comes together I will post more pics.
