First of all, apologies if this has been posted to death .. After reading many posts on FChat in regards to 360CS exhaust systems, we have decided to keep the stock system as after listening to many different clips I (imho) believe that is still sounds the best but wondering whether we should be going for a set of Hyperflow's OR test pipes? Anyone have experience with testing either and if so there thoughts and best place to purchase these items? Cheers
i agree. i prefer the sound of the stock exhaust also. but i wouldn't mind if it were a bit louder. the european stradale is about 10 times louder than a US stradale. the only difference is that the US stradale has pre-cats built into the headers. i am going to meet someone this weekend who has a stradale with high flow cats (fabspeed i think) and the stock exhaust. i bet it will sound fantastic. but i want ot hear it myself before i make any decisions.
Stradale ownrs that like the sound of thier cars but want more volume can do test pipes in place of the main cats. Hyperflows will make it a little louder, but test pipes make the real difference. I am a Fabspeed dealer if anyone is interested.
I haven't confirmed this....but widespread rumor & legend supports that the fine/penalty for having removed the cats and running straight-pipes is $5,000 per missing cat, not to mention the increased pollution, noise, etc. Is it really worth it?
I love the sound of my CS with stock exhaust; it wails like a banshee above 4500rpms, and turns every head. Would I want it louder? Not really, because its just cramming noise -- that the owner might well enjoy -- into everyone else's face. I've also just installed Hyperflow cats; heightens the noise level a bit, but not overly so I'm glad to say. If your a testoserone head and just have to be loud -- like hey everybody, listen to my thunderous rap music during your siesta -- then OK get the test pipes. You'll then be both noxious and illegal.
Feeling the love from the left moral majority on this one!! I think there are far more environmental issues you could champion outside of one mans muffler!! LOL! Robert
I had a Stradale exhaust installed on my 360 Spider. I love the sound of a Tubi, but I can certainly live with this exhaust. I have an extended warranty on my car and had to install a Ferrari system to not void the warranty. It is true, folks. Ferrari is getting very difficult about putting anything on our cars except for OEM parts. I'm sure that they might not be able to do anything about aftermarket products from a legal standpoint, but I don't want to challenge this. But I do love the sound of the Stradale exhaust. It screams like a "banshee" about 4500 RPM.
Also, be aware of FNA's new"-ish" policy on voiding warranties. The truth may be that in the long run, the aftermarket exhausts cause more problems for you than their worth. That said, I like 'em loud. Just heard, btw, a 599 with a Tubi and I was not overly impressed. Nice throaty rumble at idle, though. In fact, many of the shop guys liked the stock exhaust note better. Just got the CS back yesterday, rain everywhere today, will have to wait to put the CS to work. As I've said many times, there is only ONE published dyno by a manufacturere of sports cats, its by Hyperflow on a 360CS, and claims a 27 HP gains between 4500-6500rpms, and 36.6 ft/lb increase at 4700 rpms. Fabspeed and Larini obtusely refer to the Hyperflow results but have never published their own. We now have a second source, largely though not wholly consistent with Hyperflow's claims. The post by Kingspower (http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153612) claims 23 rear wheel HP gain and 21.5 rear wheel ft/lb Torque increase with hyperflow cats. Assuming a "standard" driveline loss of 15-20%, that translates into around 27-29 HP gain and 25-27 ft/lb torque gain. A 25-27ft/lb increase in torque on a CS is close to a 10% gain over stock. Of course the Hyperflows also weigh 50% of the OEM cats, a savings of about 13lbs. I fully expect to feel a seat of the pants effect and will convey impressions when I do ... please stop raining!
Thanks for the opinions guys .. Anyone have any links to sounds or vids of a CS with Hyperflow's or test pipes and finally where is the best price to buy either of these products.. Cheers
Hyperflows with BMC filters and a CS standard exhaust is pretty optimal, I always have a barrage of 360 & 430 owners asking what exhaust I have when they hear my car.
Try Rosso Motorsports in Kansas City they have sold numerous Hyperflows for Stradales and offer great pricing ask for Grant 913.681.2220
