Here's what my F430 looked like, for comparison. The actual match was pretty damn good - certainly given no dowels are used - but the matching section was offset in the whole assembly so there was a ~1.5mm step offset in the inlet throat i.e. a protrusion on one side and a recess on the other.

Perfect Mark - I'll take some shots of the 360 one shortly for comparison.

I don't think these tiny changes will make enormous differences to power output to be honest - they're detail changes at the end of the day. But if I could achieve an honest 450bhp from the Stradale engine running some tasty headers, race cats and challenge exhaust breathing through Steve's NGT airbox with a decent breather strategy and these little incremental changes I'd be pleased and consider it a job well done.

Small changes that do add up...besides, it doesn't feel right putting it back together without addressing these bits :)

Julian - what type of inlet manifold do you have? There were two variants, one with separate trumpets pushed onto the intake tubes and one where the top of the tubes are machined into a round profile.

    I would post a pic but can't...

Loads of room for the header, as long as it's higher than the top of the coolant in the motor it will be fine in that location.

I think they moved to a cheaper way of producing the manifold for later cars. I much prefer the design of the earlier cars (like you have).

Yes I noticed on the internet - did a search - the later type is a little rudimentary !

Alll this lot is off the intake manifold alone! Been busy with the vibratory tumbler cleaning and refinishing these bits. I'd like the view from above the engine to be really nice.

Next I've got to refinish the rest of the plenum, clean the ports up and I can put this back together- more work in the intake on a 360 than you'd expect!

Dude, this is going to be so clean that it should be pushed (never started or driven) directly into an art museum for display. It should be called "Damned If You Don't."

    Impressive!

Soon you will be studying original plating for the various screws, bolts, nuts, brackets, and be taking it out for re-plating :) like the guys restoring dinos etc. :) Great work! and fun thread to follow.

Thanks guys. On the plating items I'm refinishing the corroded ones in epoxy gold which in my experience is a brilliant way to stop them corroding again. Its just a paint but it's very tough. If you use a very light coat it's really resilient. So the brief is facotry colours except for the gold which replaces the plate. I'm quite enjoying doing it at the moment.... ask me in a month lol!!!

Eugh. Today it was the turn of this horrible monster. If you should for any reason need to strip a 360 pas pump then it's easier to loosen everything on the engine. Pulley included.
