If possible, a stradale with the Gallardo engine performance characteristics.(wishful thinking)
360CS, for the extra handling, noise, excitement, looks, etc. The Gallardo is an awesome car and loses nothing to a regular 360, but the CS is in a class of it's own.
Yeah....in a race that "class" is called 4th place vs the other cars in the $150k price range. 1st- Gallardo 2nd- Ford GT 3rd- GT3 4th- 360CS Stay away from the race track unless its a Ferrari only event. I'm not a "track guy" so I really like the 360CS, it wins on road feel, which is most important to me. But I think you guys should keep it real.
Yes, it is evident from your answer that you are NOT a track guy (no offense intended). For track day guys, winning/losing is a fuzzy thing, and has far more to do with driver skill than the car. But weight will tend to be far more important than power. The key for track day guys is NOT absolute performance, but rather the driving experience. And it is in that that the CS is distinguishing itself. For true racers, we're really talking about how well the platform can be applied to the ruleset. And for that, the 360GTC will do quite well in that group... the few 360GTC's will give the horde of 911's a run for the title, while Gallardo's will not even attend the show. The wild card is the Ford GT... way too little is known about that platform right now... but I definitely wouldn't count it out. So, either way, CS beats Gallardo!
So who knows?....can the Ford GT beat the Gallardo? I've seen times where the Ford beat the 360CS by a lot. I've seen times where the Lambo beat the 360CS by quite a bit. But I haven't yet seen GT vs Gallardo?
Maybe the Gallardo is faster and I understand that Lambo has improved quality. But really, I would not want to drive a car that look like this... A friend of mine is getting one. Maybe I'll change my mind once I drive it... AW
I picked the Gallardo. All wheel drive, 500hp, better looks in my opinion, better performance, German engineering, best of all no stupid timing belt. Ferrari really needs to give up the timing belts.
If you were just renting one for a week in Europe - what would you rent and why? Same price for either - but you only have to live with it for a wonderful week
It depends who you talk to and what you read. Napolis firmly believes that the Ford GT will arrive with 600HP or more. If you believe that, then you can use the latest Car and Driver test results on a development mule to guage it: 0 - 150MPH: 23.9 - Ferrari 360 CS 23.9 - Porsche 911 GT3 22.1 - Ferrari 575M 21.4 - Lamborghini Gallardo 19.2 - Porsche 911 GT2 18.0 - Ferrari F40 16.9 - Ford GT (Non-final test car, HP rating not disclosed by Ford) I personally believe that the Ford GT will come in detuned to 500HP for reliability reasons, and that the 0-150 time will be closer to a 911 GT2 time, which has a similar power to weight ratio as a 3,500lb (Car and Driver measured weight) 500HP Ford GT: 19.2 - 911 GT2 Either way the Ford GT will likely be faster than any of the cars in the $150k class.
Speaking of Ford GT, they have put out a commercial that is comparable to the CS commercial with Dario Benuzzi driving Fiorano... this one has less data, and more of just the GT power sliding around ThunderHill. http://users.fdn.com/~jse/FordGT_TheONE_FL.wmv Enjoy.
