Yeah, what´s the deal with these cars? As i have found out: 360 Challenge is a little lighter, a little longer, and initially a little faster acceleration(don´t know about top speed though). Other differences? Haven´t heard much about the 360 Challenge - how come? I guess it´s regarded as a lesser car or something?
Longer? Too many differences to list really. Modena is a spongy road car, with adequate track manners and no brakes in std form. CS is a slightly softly sprung road car with reasonable/appealing track manners, a bit of extra oompf and great brakes that are too expensive to use for most. 360C is stripped out racer with terrible if even barable road manners (not even registerable in most cases), with sensational and affordable brakes and superb but sensitive chassis tune. All have excellent attributes for their purpose. Porsche GT3 very comparable car performance wise, but not a patch on charisma.....
Phil, why are the Challenge cars so 'cheap'? I remember seeing one advertised for $160K at MM - thats ALOT less than a CS!
Race mileage is 10 times as hard on running gear for a start, and running costs are high per km relatively speaking... plus, unlike 355C which are RHD and road registerable, 360C are only LHD and cannot be used on the road, and consequently about 99% of their use is in competition making them potential grenades if their history is not 100%.
Same here in the US. The Challenge cars are just used-up racecars, most of which have been crashed to some degree. The brokers sitting on them will say otherwise, but you can buy them up from Ferrari dealers for under $100K US. They would be great open track cars if you didnt risk Ferrari repair bills for drive train and sheet metal.
A 360 Challenge is a track car and a Challenge Stradale is a street legal car, big difference in useage and value.
