When you have it apart, there is a clutch guide that’s plastic in gated cars and metal in F1s. The parts are otherwise identical. I don’t have any more detail than that because it was my tech who told me. But probably worth looking into since as we all know, plastics get brittle over time. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
The parts you speak of are actually pretty different and do different jobs. The plastic piece in a stick car only prevents rotation of the TO bearing. The same piece is also in an F1 but is used as a mount for the position sensor. Unlike the part in 355 I have never seen a failure but it was updated many years ago. In an F1 car steel pins guide the TO bearing, prevent rotation and limit travel. Those are typically replaced.
Another clutch option you might want to check into is the Tilton ST-246 twin clutch, running sprung organic plates. I have my eye on that clutch pack for a build I'm doing down the road (using a Toyota motor, not Ferrari). You might have to have someone like Aasco build you a custom flying, but if there is enough room in the bell housing, it could be an option. The ST-246 can handle a lot of HP and Torque and is very driveable on the street from what I know. The times I've talked to Tilton about Ferrari stuff, they have always been very helpful and receptive to the idea. Might be worth a look. Ray
