I have a 2001 (manual transmission) 360 Spider with under 7k miles on it. I live in NY and it gets cold in the winter. The car is garage kept 365 days a year. When I take the car out for a ride on a very cold winter day, the car seems to clunk or grind while changing gears. As soon as the car warms up, the clunk goes away and the gear are smooth as silk. Any one experience a similar problem?

Speedy- The pros can chime in on this, but it sounds like you may need to change your transaxle oil. Brian Crall (one of our pro technicians "rifledriver") recommends annual changes on 360s. If yours has not been done for a while, you might want to do it and make sure you use a GL5 synthetic 75W-90 when you change it.

It is normal for transaxles to shift with more difficulty when cold, especially when very cold, since 75W-90 is fairly thick stuff. You might try the old Dino 246 GT trick of shifting from first to third when cold, although your transaxle actually has triple cone synchro rings in first and second and only dual cone synchros in third.
