I have a 2000 euro 360 that came in with a dead battery, I replaced the battery and now the car runs at a very low RPM for the first 5-10 seconds when started dead cold. It will fire off just fine but will run slow for a few seconds and then come up to a normal fast idle and will restart fine untill it sits overnight and gets dead cold again. If you start it and then turn the engine off after as little a 2 seconds run time and then restart it will go to fast idle just fine. I recall a TSB for the early 360's doing something like this and Ferrari saying you have to what for the 'Check OK' to come before startup - that does come up and checking the imobilizers through the SD2 the right bank imobilizer goes inactive with the key fob and the left goes inactive as soon as the motor starts to spin. I did ask the owner if this car had this issue prior to the battery going dead or if he tried to jump start the car- he said no in both cases. I have checked for CAN line errors, and will have a scope and fuel pressure gauges on both banks in the morning when I start it but I don't expect to find a problem there. I am sure that the issue is a result of the Motronic systems getting powered down. I have had a couple of other 360's come in with the same type issue but those problems where resolve by resetting the adaptive values.

I would greatly appriciate hearing if any other 360 owners or techs have had this problem and what steps where taken to resolve it.

    Thanks,

Up here in Canada, in the colder weather this is normal. It seems that each time the car is started, it goes through a learn phase. Once coolant temp, tps positions, intake air temp etc have been determined, it then starts raising the idle speed. I have had them take aslong as 3 minutes to sort themselves out in colder weather. Once idleing everything is perfect. Not once have I had any check engine lights come on during this warm-up time.

During the summer, they start and catch idle speed very quicky, but you still have that slight burbble at start up, before the IAC motors start opening.

My 360 did exactly this during cold starts for practically the entire time I owned it (5.5 years). I did change the battery once early on, but I dont remember if the problem started thereafter.

I usually let it idle 3-5 minutes anyway, so I never really thought anything of it. Dealer checked it out, never found a problem. I just assumed it was normal, and no other negative effects ever came up.

Thanks for your replys. After I reset the adaptive values on Saturday and ran it up to temperature and then ran a drive cycle on Sunday it is back to a normal cold start and fast idle routine. It looks like this particular car may just be a slow learner.

Thanks Tim - I knew this issue had been discussed but I had no luck finding the thread.
