Randy, when are you going to drive this masterpiece? I want to be there to see the maiden voyage.

They are DEI Tunnel Heat Shields. Part # 050502 (48" x 21"). About $65 for that size. Sold through Summit Racing Supplies. Going to post some pictures of my spider. I did the ECU shields (back and front), the small heat shield in front and the air box by the rear muffler. This stuff is really nice!!

Dude in the 11 years I've owned mine I've never had her not start with the immobilizer. It's a pain.. but it's not unreliable. Just sayin'

I've repaired or helped with about 50 cars from immo faults which may sound like a lot but isn't. Why ? Well consider that they are 20 years old now and there are roughly 20,000 cars more or less out there, that's a pretty good failure record. My current estimate is that it's less than 1%.

I'm sure others have sought alternative replacements too but I'm sure it's still no more than about 1% failure rate so far. Most of the time when I see a failed one it's due to someone stressing the protection components by having done a jump start.

We cannot be too smug however as they are getting more common to fail as the years click by but at least I've got a low cost option figured out if people need to delete them. My own personal cars immobilizer failed for example.

The biggest issue I see is as these units get older they soldered on relays will begin to fail which could dramatically increase that current failure rate and also the power supply voltage regulator capacitors, most I've seen failed are a combination of either fault or both. The worst problem is the damage they can do when they do fail. Voltage spikes can be evil and wreck havoc on other systems like the instrument cluster and more. If your immobilizer fails you also need new engine ignition ECUs if you go the Main dealer route which works out into the thousands as they only sell them in pairs too but don't worry I can virgin them too so there really isn't a big problem to buy a new immobilizer if that's what you want.

It's one of those things that isn't a consideration until it happens, and when it does, it is sod's law that it happens in the most inconvenient place or time imaginable. It's great that we have people like 360Trev to provide a solution.

We'll cut out the slider holes and then get to work on making a system that closes flush like the OEM kit, utilising our pro slider system.

It'll be a hybrid of OEM CS handles with some of the processes we use to make the F40 sliders and some of our WRC slider

    Best wishes

    Hi Randy.

We're going a step further with this project.

Our engineer is making custom slider rails that replicate the OEM Ferrari system, uses some of our WRC and F40 springs and will utilize the original handles:
