Hello. I have a 360 spider, and the previous owner was not good about storing it with the top up. As a result, the window is creased pretty badly in two places. Like two dimples in the window. The window is clear and doesn't have many scratches, but I wanted to know if anyone knows of a way to remove the creases/dents in the plastic window? Or, is there any way to replace the plexi window without replacing the whole top?

    Thanks for the help.

    Steve,

As you already know they advise against leaving the top down for extended periods because it will develop these dimples which are now in 'memory effect'.

Try gently using a hair-dryer (on low setting initially) in the area of the dimples, and work on the high areas if they're on the inside, dimpled-in or dimpled-out.

You'll find that as the plastic warms up it will begin to lose the dimples, and a little finger pressuure here and there will also help.

    Good Luck.

  3. There are places that only replace the plastic window also, I have seen it made down in Miami

Not a 360 Spider, but on my S2000, Honda has a service bulletin to pour hot water on the rear window to shrink out creases and dimples.

PS- glad you guys are in the same boat with your $200k+ cars, makes me feel better about having a plastic window on mine! :p

The dimples are caused by the plastic window bowing inward instead outward when lowering. The elastic bands are worn and need to be replaced.

    Just a random thought...

How about using one of those electric steamers people use to get creases out of clothes? Hand held, controllable and inexpensive. You could ‘massage’ the plastic while applying steam.

Probably beats pouring boiling water on it.
