Agreed as well and worse yet suggests that someone who pays above somehow overpaid.

You show me a CS in the 160's with low mileage and I'm a cash buyer asap )I would not care what color it is, with or without stripe).
I thought i got a great deal on my car. Mint condition, It had radio, fire ext, stripe, all books , car cover, battery charger and 2600 miles for about 20% under msrp. I also spoke to and met the previous owner who only got rid of it ( and took a beating selling it) to get a CGT.

The day I have the misfortune of become a car broker as opposed to osmoene who buys them for myself, I'll be sure to give you a call. Until then, do your own homework.

When you come on here making ridiculous claims, you will be asked to back them up.

That Tdf CS at Tonkin won't be around for much longer -- I'd get it before you're disappointed -- it looks fantastic! I think 185-190 should be achievable for that car with such low miles.

Come on here? Hmm, you joined in 05, I joined in 02.

Forgive me if I don't push the company line and tout that they're the "deal of the decade" and whatever other trite comments might be made.

The reality is that cars are moving hands at much lower prices than advertised. The reality is Scott shouldn't be paying anything more than 185 at the top. And the reality is people even in your neck of the woods have found cars much cheaper than you've been able to find them. So if I add a sobering comment to the naysayers whose interest is only in making sure that their cars stay overvalued, then forgive me for not keeping up with the unreal.

When everyone was paying over MSRP, I bought a car for 194. When people are paying 194, I have passed on cars (plural) in the 160s. Am I any better for it? Absolutely not. But does it mean that I'm the only one who can find deals like that - absolutely not. I know of at least one other gentleman in your neck of the woods who passed on a similarly priced car (argento). True none of these cars were found in FML, but that doesn't mean they weren't out there.

Best of luck, and happy trails. To those willing to pay so much, remind me to look you up when it's time to sell something. Maybe I should get a job and become a car broker - seems like enough people are willing to pay silly money rather than do their homework. PT Barnum had it right.

I got $182k for my CS with 1,257 miles (Scuderia w/black & red alcantara, no stripe, radio, hi-fi, spare, extinguisher) last November on trade for my 430. The dealer didn't seem to care about options, only condition and if it had been tracked.

Ron Tonkin has/had a Argento for 164. Bottom line is to pay what you're comfortable with and get a car you like.

I think the CS market's actual selling prices are somewhere around here:

    0-2k miles $190k to $195k
    3-5k miles $185 to $190k
    6k-10k miles $180k to $185k
    10k+ miles $170k to $180k
    20k+ miles $150k to $170k

This is sort of an average estimate of private party and dealer prices. For instance I know of two cars that sold for $190k at dealers. One had 3k miles and the other had 5k miles. I also know of a private party car that could have been bought for $175k with 5k miles. It was offered to me at that price. However, it was an off color (not red, blue, or black) which probably accounted for at least a $5k+ price adjustment. That being said it was still well priced.

There will always be exceptions to the rule. I don't doubt that Dan may have had a chance to buy a car at the price he is indicating, however, that is an exception and not the rule. The "market" is determined by averages and not single transactions.

In the end if you find the car you really like then don't worry about a few thousand dollars one way or the other. Buy it because you love it and want to own it! Whether it's $185k or $190k is really secondary to the reason you are considering it in the first place.

i like the 360 CS too, but i suggest if you are free to travel to the middle east
with that price, 199k, you could get a low mileage F-430 !!
or am i missing your point ? you dont care about the year model, you just want to get a CS ?

If this is directed at me--it is just the potential easy opportunity, given the car is at a local dealer. I am not super driven to own a CS, just investigating the possibilty.

Thanks one and all for the advice and suggestions. I had the opportunity to drive the car, but have decided not to move forward. A very nice TDF CS is waiting for someone...

What were the reasons if you don't mind me asking ? Price ? A CS not for you ? Other concerns about this particular vehicle ?

This would have been a transitional car between my current 360 and my soon to be ordered 430. So I would have it only for a matter of months. This is important because: 1) I am not dying to own a CS, but was intrigued by the possibility of being able to experience one for several months, and 2) because of the short ownership window, I didn't want to take a big hit on the wholesale/retail difference (i.e. I trade my current 360 in at wholesale and then pay retail for the CS)--because I would just turn around and do that again with the 430.

That being said, I think the price is a somewhat high, and I tend to come to the conclusion, based on this thread and other sources, that it is really a 180K car. Now, if you have been dying to own a TdF blue CS--you should pay the asking price. That wasn't my situation.

The car also needs its 1 year/5K service, tires are worn (still good, and I didn't have a tread gauge, but seems like they are well worn for the milage) and the clutch is 20+% gone (which seems kinda typical for a harder driven car). None of these are necessarily concerns for a short term owner, but because you can't predict the future (e.g. 430 deliveries depending on the NHTSA)--it isn't the car I would want to pay top dollar for.

I understand this logic completely, as it was the exact same thought process I went through when I acquired my CS. I didn't know whether I wanted to buy one, or just keep my 360 for a little while longer. When my dealer brought round the CS though and I drove it for the first time, it was impossible to (a) say no or (b) remove the big grin off my face....
I felt like it would be a good interlude whilst waiting for my F430. I wanted to experience an F1 for a while. I'm pleased to be getting my F430 in a manual, but will probably do the F1 when the F599 is ready. I will be looking to sell my CS in 2-3 months when my F430 arrives, or I'll simply give it back to my dealer.

We were on the same page. The only difference is that, for me, I was looking at a 20-30K cost (no counting depreciation, milage deductions, etc.) to drive a CS. It didn't wow me enough to spend that for a handful of months.

Keep in mind the CS came with the near-R compound Corsa System tires, so 5k is not bad mileage for them.

He mentioned that he's in the middle east. Frankly for ME prices I'd say that's high. There are few CSes, but 360 coupes were under 100k 2 years ago. The best cars for depreciation in the ME are lambo (!!!) and porsche.
