Hello folks, just wondering if anyone could shed some light on a reoccurring problem. Basically this is what happens:

The doors dont lock, either with the alarm fob or manually with the key. When the fob button is pressed the alarm LED flashes so it is receiving the signal and the electronics attempt to close the locks but re-open immediately. Same happens if I try turning the key in the lock, it turns but immediately theres resistance to bring it back to original position. If I'm sat inside the car and press the door lock button on driver side it just pops up again. The only way I can get it to stay down is if i press both the passenger and driver side buttons down at the same time, and again this only occasioanlly works. When i start driving then I can lock the doors from inside no problem, but at standstill they wont lock.

I had this same problem beginning of this year an the dealer claimed the locks had gone fault and charged me £850 to replace the locks with new ones. I cant beleive the locks have gone faulty again within 6/7 months without much use in between. I am going to give the dealers a call and see if they will rectify it under the warranty of the originial repair but I dont want to be hit with "oh no sir this is a different faulty part" excuse for another bill so I'd be grateful if someone could arm me with any useful info before I call them.

Oh, and the fault generally develops gradually, initially it is an intermittent fault and then becomes permanent (usually quite quickly)

I know my alarm battery is dead/dieing, could that be a contributing factor?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I have a 04 Ferrari 360 Spider with door lock issues. My problem started when i could no longer lock the doors either with the key or fob. I figured it was the common door lock issue, so I installed 2 new locks ( as I did both due to age of components and probability of failure). I installed the new locks and checked all functions manually with key and battery disconnected and everything is working properly. So I turn the battery back on and i cant lock either side with key or fob. It does the exact same thing as before the new lock installation, in that it locks for about 1 second, then it unlocks. I have double checked all cable adjustments and they are in order. Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, or potential solutions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you say you changed the locks, what part did you change? Just the key barrel (with the 3 microswitch attachment) or the big latch/lock assembly?

Curious if anyone has a solution as I am having the same problem with my 2007 430 spider.

While I appreciate your message, it feels like you are implying that I have not attempted to search the forum for a potential solution.

I have searched - and have yet to find one that matches the problem I am having. When I saw another person having the same problem recently, I made my post to both indicate a similar problem and to keep the his post at the top of the list - in hopes that someone has found the solution and can chime in.

If you have experienced this - or know what needs to be done - I would welcome your thoughts.

Bouncing locks can be caused by:

Doors not latching properly on the striker plate
    Rusty cables
    Mechanically faulty door latch/lock mechanisms
    Faulty microswitches in latch/lock mechanism
    Faulty key lock linkages
    Faulty key lock microswitches
    Faulty Door ECUs

Possibly also faulty Window ECUs and alarm systems. The door microswitches talk to the Window ECU before talking to the Door ECU.

By “same problem”, you mean the symptoms were identical to the first poster and you changed both of "the locks" and the problem came back again? And you could push both lock buttons at the same time and it would sometimes lock the doors? And like the second poster, you can physically lock the doors with the battery off?

Have you looked at the regularly recommended videos like this to get a general idea of the locking system?
